It’s frustrating with so many sites having different dates. WWE lists October 16th on their site, but when can their adherence to history every be trusted? Maths has never been their strong point.
I had thought about checking History of WWE, but I don’t know if they do minor promotions’ histories. One site even seemed to suggest Michaels’ career began in 1985!

You can find his early Mid-South television matches online. I did enjoy the DVD they released years ago. It was great to see matches such as The Midnight Rockers vs. The Nasty Boys (AWA), and Shawn Michaels vs. One Man Gang from World Class Championship Wrestling. I have zero faith that when the WWF/WWE Network closes down, any of the classic stuff will migrate to Netflix. We’ll be left with YouTube and Dailymotion, but WWE does sometimes shut those down. Well, if you’re not gonna do physical media or have classic stuff on Netflix, then what do you expect people to do?

On this day 25 years ago, No Merchy aired on PPV, taking place at the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio: I remember little about this, I consider the Attitude Era to be an overrated (and often boring) era, main events aside. Some of those Attitude Era PPVs were a real slog to sit through. This was a milestone event in many ways, though, as Chyna became the first woman to become Intercontinental Champion, defeating Jeff Jarrett. Other matches included WWF World Champion Triple H vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Women’s champion Ivory defending against The Fabulous Moolah.

This is an excerpt from Keith Elliot Greenberg’s forthcoming book about WM III: I had no idea Hogan and Andre first had a bout in 1978, so it’s interesting to learn that; I just presumed Shea Stadium in 1980 was their first bout.

If I'm not mistaken that "match" is from 1979. You can see it here:

May I suggest my YouTube channel, Titans TV m.youtube.com/@titanstv1979/playlistsI've been curating several playlists recently. Most are in chronological order. Of course, with YT, videos can disappear at any time And as far as Hogan v Andre goes, I believe this was their first WWF match, from July 1980, at the Spectrum

Like everyone here, I’ve seen countless championship belts, some good, some ugly. But this has to the worst:

Well, at least it's not another of their modern, boring "W" designs

Like everyone here, I’ve seen countless championship belts, some good, some ugly. But this has to the worst: That's not half as bad as the AEW belt, which looks like someone spraypainted some cookies with gold paint and glued them on leather. That is Trump levels of gaudy; but, from a distance, wouldn't look as bad. Here's the thing, why go to all that trouble for detail, when most people will see the belt from a distance and it will just blend together? Keep it simple and to the point and then treat the title like it means something and the audience will be there. Give me a Dave Millican or Reggie Parks belt anytime, over that mess. Hell, even a Nikita Mulkovich belt, even though every one of them looked the same. As a general rule, I've never cared for WWWF, WWF or WWE titles belts......they either looked cheap, looked generic, or were over-done things, like that. There have been exceptions, like the 80s Intercontinental belt(mid-late 80s, not the one that Greg Valentine and Tito Santana traded), the later Hogan/Yoko/Bret/Shawn belt and the Attitude Era WWF title belt (not the Smoking Skull, the round one). I always preferred the Crockett belts......much as I preferred their wrestling. The belts look like real sports titles and the matches were treated like real sports competitions, not props in the circus. The AWA never did get a decent looking World title belt, though. Tag belts were good, though and the TV title was a pretty good design. The classic NWA Domed Globe always looked good. Liked the look of the Mid-South North American title; but, you had to be Andre to wear the thing. You felt like Watts was over-compensating for some perceived deficiency.

I didn’t like Cena’s spinner belt (I did like Cena). I feel that, to quote countless wrestlers, the man should make the title, the title shouldn’t make the man. The title is bigger than the man (or woman). And so I like continuity. That Shawn Michaels won the WWF Championship in 1996, with the same belt design as, say, Warrior did when he won in 1990, gives it that continuity. It transcends eras. Sure, I guess there might have been different/spare belts, and we had colour changes for the straps, e.g. Warrior had the white IC belt. But I liked the continuity, that the IC belt Bret and Shawn fought over in 1992 was the same one that Savage and Steamboat fought over, or Warrior and Rude. I do not like the current IC design: It looks like the gaudy kind of design that yours truly would have created on one of the SmackDown vs. Raw video games. It’s hideous.
