NWA Powerrr Ep 14
Recap of Ricky Starks going the distance with Nick Aldis and Ricky Morton calling for more time, plus the team challenge for Morton to get a title shot and the surprise entrance of Scott steiner.
Rock N Roll Express talk to Dave Marquez. Ricky cuts a great "working man" promo. They are keepin Team Morton a secret. Stips were that Aldis & Morton sit out the 6-man match. Team Aldis is Wil Cards & Steiner. Robert Gibson is the only know part of Team Morton.
Promo for the PPV, with a rundown of the tv tournament brackets (noting that two matches have to be completed, plus two draws for open slots). Zicky Dice and Ricky Starks out. Dice asks what Starks has ever done; Starks calls him a "broke-ass Guy Fiery" and runs over him, verbally. They go to the Dawson vs Dawson match, in the ring.
Several spots of them running after each other into the corners and hitting a splash or getting a knee to the face counter (the brothers are basically slam dancing, for the first minute or so). Playing up Zane's hand being in a cast; but it is only wrapped in an Ace bandage. Dave works on the hand, in the corner, then the ref pushes them apart and Zane hits him with a sucker punch and gets the pin. If you are going to do a cast-as-a-weapon angle, you need to have something more solid looking than an Ace bandage. Could have at least had vet wrap or something, or and arm brace. Brothers weren't really laying it in and looked softer against each other than their opponents.
He said, she said backstage piece with Ken Anderson and Colt Cabana, about last ep's match. Colt tries to stay positive, Anderson keeps asking why he is supposedly bitter.
Ashley Vox vs Melina. Ashley is announced as "from the Ocean State," and her trunks look like blue scales. Maybe she should call herself Namorita? Or Mera. She looks like a high school kid, as she is about 5 ft nothing. They go back and forth, with Ashley aggressive early. Sloppy forearms and kicks that look like schoolyard fakes. Ashley does a lot of selling, like she is about out on her feet, but it looks too phony. Needs to learn to sell realistically. Maybe Ricky Morton can giver her some pointers. Nothing spectacular from Melina. Punches around the side of the head, some kicks that obviously don't impact. Ashley tries for what looked like a chicken wing and Melina gets her in a Scorpion Death Drop, which she ads a leg across the collar bone to make it look like it has more impact.......Meh.... Still don't see it. The women , even the allegedly seasoned ones, still look way behind the guys, in the fundamentals, with the exception of Thunder Rosa. I've heard Melina called the best of her era in the WWE; but it seems all relative, as she doesn't hold a candle to the current crop of ladies there and I have seen a dozen women in Shimmer who make her look like a rookie.
Galli goes to interview her ringside. His voice is shot, which isn't helping the episodes from this day's taping (Bennett is compensating). Melina calls out Alissyn Kay and they make a match for the next episode. Average promos.
Recap of Nick Aldis invading Ring of Honor, after Marty Scurll. Aldis, in a security uniform shirt, ambushes Marty in the ring. Next day, he and the other members of Strictly Business interrupt a ROH show. Flip Gordon helps run off Strictly Business and Aldis calls out Gordon, challenging him to a match at the Hard Times PPV.
Pope (Elijah Burke, not Francis) out with Outlaw Inc (Kinston & Homicide), claiming not to be their manager, but an advisor that got them an opportunity. He calls out Aron Stevens and Question Mark. The mongrovian contingent has a masked flunkie as a flag bearer. Don't think it is Jack Victory or Johnny Ace. The flag has a rhea or ostrich on one side (maybe an emu) and an armadillo on the other, with a black center stripe with a white Question mark. Somehow, Rand McNally missed that flag in their latest almanac.
Stevens tries some Mongrovian kuh-rah-tay and gets dumped on his backside by Kingston, screams like a girl and bails out of the ring. Tennessee Santa (ringside fan in orange santa hat and blazer) tells him to calm down. Homicide looks to be about my size and I'm not going to look convincing against anyone this side of Jimmy Hart or Sky Lo Low. Stevens and QM switch things around and work on Homicides taped shoulder. Stevens does a Crane Kick stance into an elbow drop and Mr Miyagi rolls in his grave. Danial-san needs to forget the Cobra Kais and teach "Shooter" Stevens a lesson! Kingston jumps in and attacks Stevens, then gets laid out by QM and a Mongrovian Spike. Homicide misses his finisher and QM gives him a Spike and Stevens gets the pin. Pope walks into the ring and takes off his Raybans, shakes his head and walks out on Outlaw Inc.

Strictly Business come out with Scott Steiner, who is carrying a replica of the old NWA World Tag-team Title belts (the Crockett ones, which he replaced the old Mid-Atlantic belts with). Steiner cuts his usual profanity-laden promo and sounds like he had too many chair shots and steroid injections. He may have a college degree; but, I doubt he has rad many books without pictures.
They hit the ring at out come the RNR. Gibson's partners are Eli Drake & Tim Storm. Drake and Latimer in first and Latimer gets worked over, as Gibson, then Storm are in quickly. Latimer tags in Isacs, who gets knocked around, before Drake gets dumped off the turnbuckle. Steiner tagged in, wearing a shirt and long pants to hid that he isn't the man he was. Some punches and a belly to belly and he tags out. Isaacs works over Drake for a bit, then Steiner back in for another kick and suplex, then out again. he looks like an old biker and moves about as slow as one. Latimer in and Drake gets a counter. Crawl tot he corner and hot tag to Gibson, who cleans house and catches Isaacs for a victory roll for a 2-count. Gibson gets a sleeper, which is broken up by Latimer, then Drake hits him. Chaos spot, with Kamille trying to spear Tim Storm and he sidestaps, sending her headfirst into the ring steps. Storm & Steiner play fight and Drake hits a jawbreaker on Isaacs and Bisbon does a schoolboy rollup for the pin. morton gets his shot at Aldis. Aldis is livid, Morton taunts him from the ring.
Closing title card announces title match for next week's episode.
Another great one, overall. Women's match still behind NXT levels; but, at least they don't have a Freddie Mercury cosplayer or a little girl who beats women twice to 3 times her size with ridiculous maneuvers. Kingston & Homicide look like punks and Pope gets some heel heat for walking out on them. Stevens & Question mark continue to entertain. Dawson fight nowhere near as wild as their tag matches. Main event has the obvious result. Steiner barely in and mostly just hits some routine suplexes, where his opponents ar flying for him. Don't doubt he is still strong as an ox; but, his body looks shot and it wasn't in great shape in WWE or TNA. Too many bumps, too many roids. not sure why he's there, other than for nostalgia, as he has his money well invested, per brother Rick.
The crossover with Ring of Honor reunites the two promotions. I suspect they may work together more, especially with Marty Scurl's new deal. It seems like they know that working together helps them compete with AEW and WWE. Whether they will work with Impact as well remains to be seen. They did work with them before the Powerrr show began, with the Tim Storm vs Jocephus empty arena match, which helped build to the Storm vs Aldis match on the debut Powerrr show.
Fake commercials continue to be great
