Politically I consider myself to be centrist, although when it comes to social/sexual mores I'm probably a lot more conservative than the average city-dwelling American. But that being said, I've never ever once felt threatened by #metoo. And maybe, shockingly, some of those conservative social mores are actually responsible for that. Oh, #metoo scares me. I think every male played back their romantic lives in slow motion when #metoo first happened in order to ask themselves if anyone would be coming for them next. I THINK I behaved like a total gentleman, but context and perspective can be tricky things. Doesn't change the fact that respecting a woman's right to say "no" and hearing a woman out when she has been victimized are the right things to do; the kind of things I'd want someone to support if I were a woman in such a situation. The villagers may be coming with torches and pitchforks. I still support their right to be protected from monsters.

I never forgot this encounter in the JLA book. Speaking of which... this one below was from the Birds of Prey series under Gail Simone's first run. And then this one below is from the (sarcasm) "classic" All Star Batman and Robin.

I didn't read much of the thread, as the comments were going in a direction I didn't want to go in. however, I have fond memories of buying this comic off the stands, and it's the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title. so wanted to share.. . so naughty. . and ignore that giant stone erection in the background

Don't get me wrong -- as with any movement, I wouldn't consider #metoo to be wholly righteous and without fault. It's too broad and diverse for that, and there are wings in that movement that seem to me to be... less reasonable than others. But I'm with you -- when people air grievances, my instinct is to listen rather than dismiss.

This is from an old Marvel Team-up and is surprising by todays standards.
Maybe it's a redhead thing.

Maybe it's a redhead thing. If Pete's love interests in the '60s cartoon are anything to go by, probably.

Extra creepy points go to the look on Professor X's face in that last panel. What the heck, dude.
