I could argue so much of this, but I won't. Let's leave it at this. If you want a fun thread full of times folks have "stolen a kiss," you've got it. When you start saying things like "he was just trying to piss her off" and "it wasn't sexual," though, you're going to get push back because then this thread becomes about something more than just things that used to happen in comic books. This. We can make fun how in 1960 was ok for Superman (well, it was one of his robots, but he was remote controlling it) spanking Lois Lane. Because, well, I know that 60 years ago things were different. But if someone says that it's a shame that we can't have stories like that because PC (and not because it's wrong) well, it's sure I'll challenge that.

I have no problem with some scans being challenged. That’s what makes this forum fun when there is a respectful participation. But I don’t recall Anyone in 1987 or whenever the Deathbird scene was published, writing in to say that she was sexually assaulted, so i dare say that there is some projecting going on. That scene was played for laughs at the time. Again, would it be written today? I don’t think so.

That scene was played for laughs at the time. Again, would it be written today? I don’t think so. That scene was from Avengers #189 (1979). And after that we had the infamous Avengers #200 and still no one complained about it. So, I think that readers at the time weren't exactly the most progressive people...

We had an entire thread devoted to the complaints that came out of Avengers #200.

Yokay, but the context is creepy and weird. Supes calls MatrixGirl by his cousin's name before he kisses her and she seems to enthusiastically kiss him back. Although unlike the Weissinger example also posted, I'm sure the author was writing it to be creepy and weird and the audience was supposed to view it as such. When I read that page, it makes me think that it's not really Superman. He says he doesn't love Lois. Since When ? I've never gotten the sense that Silver Age Supes felt much affection for Lois. Most of the stories I've read focusing on their relationship involve her trying to uncover his true identity and him making a game of the situation. Kinda toxic, actually.

Err, how can Robin swing from that position? And where the rope is attached to? Really, the pre-Crisis use of the Batrope has never made any sense...

Err, how can Robin swing from that position? And where the rope is attached to? It's a comic book. There are some questions you're just not supposed to ask. However, according to Brian Cronin... So someone had tried to introduce the grappling gun (which made a little more sense than "I launch a batrang nowhere and then I mysteriously swing"), but they waited for the movie...
