I was thinking about this as I read the latest issue, Usagi mentioned he was traveling north to pay respects to a place he hadn't been to in a long time. Is he talking about his home village? His master's home? Is the Adachi Plain in the north? And I realized I really have no clue about the geography of his wanderings. It's not super important to enjoying the stories themselves bt it would certainly be interesting to see where Usagi's wanderings have taken him.
I don't think Stan Sakai has ever featured a map, but has anyone tried to do it as a fan work?

In the earlier adventures, his geographic relationship to the Geishu province was emphasized several times. It seems implied that he left that area around the time of "Samurai" and first returned to it again for "Tomoe's Story". That would also suggest that Usagi's own home village is a reasonable distance from the Geishu province since he visits it over a year into that space between the two story lines. Beyond that, I have no real sense of the geography of Usagi's world. Knowing how meticulous Stan is in his research, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he has real geographical locations in mind when he creates Usagi's adventures. |

I'm in the same boat as you, I don't have any real sense of geography and although it certainly isn't necessary the tease in the recent issue really made me think about it and how fun it would be to see where Usagi's been. I did a search earlier and couldn't find any maps, which surprised me. |

Thanks! -- JustinW I know I JUST read something (probably in the past three days) where Stan laid out Usagi's geographic journey from Albedo #2 until now, but I'll be darned if I can recall where. He discussed regions, and I specifically recall his mentioning Usagi passing through the Geishu clan's territory twice and likely not returning for some time to come. I wish I could be more helpful than this. |

So I posted that on the DojoBoard main forum, but unfortunately the site is down for maintenance, so I don't have all the details handy. I did come up with some rudimentary maps to show the basic location, especially regarding Adachi. This map shows provinces of the Edo period. The colored province is Mutsu Province. Adachi would be within this area.
