This is about the fourth cover where I thought: There's the winner!
It's going to be a TOUGH CHOICE this week!
And this one has the advantage of being a true event from the American Revolution! It's part of the required curriculum recently adopted by schools in Texas, Kansas and South Carolina.

Is there any collection showcasing some of his talent. Like a horror collection? I'm liking his covers everytime I see them and would like to see more. Fantagraphics is set to release a collection of his covers. It;s been delayed several times, but I think the latest solicit is for December. Was that most of all he ever did was covers? Did he do any interior art?

Fantagraphics is set to release a collection of his covers. It;s been delayed several times, but I think the latest solicit is for December. Was that most of all he ever did was covers? Did he do any interior art? He did some interior art, but mostly covers. Some time around 1951 or so, he bought the unpublished story file of a comic company that went under. For the next few years, he published all this back stock, just adding his own new covers. So while he did do some interior work before and after that, he's best known for all the lurid covers he churned out over this period (and before). Pmpknface could tell you a lot more if he happens to see this, though he hasn't been very active since the move here. But he has a huge L.B. Cole collection, one of the biggest around. I think he may have contributed some scans to that upcoming book, as his collection is well known among Cole collectors.

Many of the covers I immediately thought of have been posted, but that does mean that I can post this one instead. Is there ever a bad time for a Groo cover? I think not:

This historical inaccuracies cannot stand! Spiders are arachnids, not insects!

It says Black Widow, but that doesn't look like Black Widow to me... Agreed. She seriously let herself go, allowing her ass to get that large.

This historical inaccuracies cannot stand! Spiders are arachnids, not insects! My questions are: 1. Why is "Killer-Insects" hyphenated? If they are doing it because it's at the edge of a word bubble and the word is wrapping, then they're saying the word is "Killerinsects", which is ridiculous. If it's not wrapping, "Killer-Insects" makes no sense and is grammatically incorrect. 2. We only see King Cobweb riding one spider, so where are the "Insects" plural they are referring to? Kind of sloppy advertising, if you ask me. 3. To foxley's point and question #2 above, there may be other insects inside, so judging the cover's use of the term "insect" as incorrect due to just seeing one spider is a little misplaced. 4. What went so wrong in my life to caused me to write three questions (not including this one) about a comic book cover that has a Native American riding a giant spider and shooting a webgun?

I'd be more worried if you saw a comic book cover with a Native American riding a giant spider and shooting a webgun and didn't have questions.

These bugs have eight legs, so they must be some kind of arachnid, right?

He did indeed contribute scans to the book; I helped get him in touch with Mike Catron at Fantagraphics.

To carry on with the homo-arachnid theme, a beauty by Adams I think I'm going to pass on searching out a spider cover this week because I seriously doubt I'll find anything better than this one. Awesome.

Ugh. Why'd it have to be spiders? So creepy.
