I posit that the quality of the film is inversely proportional to the quality of the trailer. The trailer for Suicde Squad was great, but the film was awful: The trailer for the upcoming Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey movie is awful, so we should all be really jazzed.

The first downbeat trailer for endgame was pretty good. OTOH... Black Panther "revolution will not be televised" trailer was excellent, and film was poor; Thor 3's Led Zep trailer was awesome but really mis-sold the tone of the film. On the 3rd hand, the Shazam and Dark Phoenix trailers were all terrible and so were the films.

Pirates of the Caribbean had a trailer that made me interested to watch a film about a Disneyland ride, of all things, and said film turned out to be pretty darn good!
(Not a fan of any of the sequels, though, but that’s a different story).

The most disappointed I can remember being from an awesome trailer with a terrible movie was for X-Men: The Last Stand. Woof.
