To me, this is the most original idea that Marvel Comics ever did and I would put this is in the running as one of the best that I have seen. Cool logo, and I'm sure I should know this, but who's the dude between Spider-Man and the Thing?

As much as I like the '76 Marvel logo and its nod to the U.S. Bicentennial, my heart skips a beat whenever I see a comic emblazoned with that fabled if short-lived " Marvel Pop Art Productions" logo...so that's my favorite. Comics from the Marvel Pop Art logo and the DC go-go checks eras are among my favorites. As for corner boxes, no one did them better than Harvey. When I was a kid I loved the Harvey corner boxes/side boxes, especially on their Giant issues. There were multiple boxes on those Giant issues, and to me they looked like TV screens, so I called the boxes "channels."

Yes, thanks, Farrar. For some reason, that doesn't look like Conan to me.

I'm a real "Marvel guy" and even I voted DC. I agree about the Marvel corner boxes though. They were things of beauty. The 70's-80's Corner Box with the Marvel Comics Group banner across the top can't be beat. Even without them, however, during that time a Marvel comic LOOKED like a Marvel comic, with or without logos.

Yes, thanks, Farrar. For some reason, that doesn't look like Conan to me. That helmet only lasted till about midway through Conan 6, when Jenna, a mischievous gamine who was a bit too clever for the "innocent" Conan, mocked him for wearing it while they were kissing. She tells him that "those horns on your helmet bruised my forehead." When she removes it, she tells Conan that the helmet "makes you look like a yak anyway." A clever move by Roy Thomas to dump a design element that wasn't working in his usual attentive-to-detail way.
