If you find your home suddenly infested with phantasms (otherwise known as ghosts) and ecto-plasmic entities and you need to call on somebody fast. Who you gonna call? Choose one and explain why and note that the Movie is not in the race, since they would of course be the overall winner! Take a trip into the past and call upon the spirits of your youth to help you decide...
1. 1975 Live Action Saturday morning Filmation Ghostbusters with Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch and Bob Burns as Tracy the Gorilla? 2. Filmation 1986 animated Ghostbusters, extended "family" of the live action with sons Jake and Eddie along with Tracy the Gorilla. 3. The Real Ghostbusters 1986 cartoon spin-off from the Movie series.
Growing up watching cartoons: it is the live action Ghostbusters series by a mile for me. It was just so damn funny and fun. Tucker and Storch are a superb comedic team (if you aren't a F-Troop fan, then you should be) and toss in a gorilla that is smarter than the 2 of them combined and you have a great show. Add into this mix a plethora of iconic comedians as the villainous ghosts: Johnny Brown, Billy Barty, Bernie Kopell, Ted Knight, Huntz Hall, Marty Ingels, Joe E. Ross, Jim Backus, Carl Ballantine, Ronny Graham and others for the GB's to play off and the antics and hilarity ensue. This was one of the best shows never seen (lasted one whole season) by many kids and adults and deserves more recognition. As a reflection of the past horror/comedies of the 40's and 50's along with a spotlight on how older stars remain interesting for current viewing and doing a show that did NOT talk down to children while remaining fun this is a show to enjoy! Thankfully I have managed to record all the episodes when they were showing on a kids HD channel several years ago so i am capable of savoring the silliness of this trio who try to keep the world safe from ghostly haunting's.
Who you gonna call?!?

I was never, ever was a Ghostbuster Fan even the movie that Bill Murray was in. Of the three options -- I prefer the Real Ghostbusters.

The movie is fun, but the real ghostbusters cartoon was one of my favorites as a kid.. great stuff. I wonder if I would still think so?

My favorite Ghostbuster isn't on your list:
Say what you will about the "reboot" as a whole, Kate McKinnon owned it in her role as Holtzmann and exceeded everything I loved about the original film with one character. I grew up on the filmation cartoon, the 1984 movie and sequel, as well as the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. It's not like I don't have a deep appreciation for what came before. But the 2016 film was a whole lot of meh with one character shining brightly enough to carry the whole thing herself.

1986 was my last year of high school/first year of college. I was not watching cartoons and have seen neither of the two listed. However, I do remember the love action Ghostbusters somewhat fondly from 1975.

I had never seen her in anything before this and it instantly made me a fan of hers.

I had never seen her in anything before this and it instantly made me a fan of hers. She's the best talent on SNL these days (heck, maybe the best talent on SNL ever). Check out a few youtube clips.

I loved the Ghostbusters movie back in the day, but I saw it again about a year ago, and I have to admit that I found Bill Murray annoying. I guess that means that I'm getting old and grumpy.

I used to like Bill Murray back then ... when he did Stripes at the time it was made; it was funny and original and I just watched that movie about a year ago ... it was kind of stupid and moronic and that movie had a "dated feelings to it" ... That's how I see things today.

I selected the 1975 live action Filamtion version; it was original for its genre (children's programming), with seasoned pros as the stars, and its influence on the 1984 film goes well beyond Columbia licensing the name from Filmation.
The Real Ghostbusters cartoon was...not too good. I've always preferred animated spin-offs of live-action properties to be as close to the source as possible (e.g., Filmation's Star Trek), and the "kiddie" treatment of TRGB was a let down.

The Real Ghostbusters for me. I love the franchise from top to bottom. I was the prime target for the show, as I was 6 when it started. A few months ago I was watching it with my 5 year old niece and she got really, really into in a way she seldom does with the other cartoons she watches.
