My wife and I typically spend New Year's at home... with 3 cats, a batch of home-made shortbread and a rather substantial single malt scotch collection. It's become a tradition for us in lieu of driving anywhere on New Year's Eve.

My condolences to your palate. Wait! People actually drink that stuff? We just export it as a joke. 
(Seriously, it is very uncommon to find a pub in Australia that stocks Fosters, unless it caters to tourists.)
Nobody drinks from a "Foster's Oil Can" (that's the 1/2 litre can) save for us Americans.   I have friends from Queensland who say that they can't even buy "Oil Cans" in AUS... nor would they want to.
It's rather amusing, because in the USA, Foster's advertising tagline is"
"Foster's... it's Australian for "beer"".
I wonder what Madison Avenue advertising executives thought that one up.

Thanks as always for doing the tally, foxley, but my fantastic fabulous cover only received one vote (  no love for Ogden Whitney, except from Rob--thanks RA!). I know, I know--all us Atlanteans look alike  ...but it was Phil Maurice who was among the finalists. Also, Berkley was among the finalists -- he, like mrp, Mister Spaceman, and Phil, also had 3 votes. I think once the voting period starts, then we should just post votes (not interesting asides), so we can make things clear for the tallyer. Thanks folks! |
