Only 24 this month, not that I mind. Been reading some actual prose, as well as spending more time with my family in the age of shelter-in-place. But the most positive reading experience from this month has been my random decision to start reading classic Superboy. I have been reorganizing my collection as of late and, in the process, noticed I had over 20 classic Superboy comics and absolutely no memory of acquiring them. I've never had any interest in silver age DC, but I decided to give them a try, and I'm actually really enjoying them for what they are. The absolute best reading moment of this month was figuring out WHILE READING THE PAGE that I owned the first appearance of Pete Ross. Not a major key issue to most collectors, but he's just one of those staples of the franchise who seemed to have been around forever. Never thought I'd end up owning his first appearance and seeing how it happened!
Next month, I just might keep this new interest in Silver Age DC going by finally reading my Hal Jordan Green Lantern books. I've owned those for nearly twenty years now and have never gotten around to reading them all.

My July reading was dismal at 20 comics. My heart just wasn't in it this month. But on the bright side, I started reading the Thors that I have acquired since the beginning of the year. I read Journey into Mystery # 106, 110, 111. SA fun.

91 books read this month, which seems OK but it was a tale of three sections. Had 54 read by July 17 (my last day in Ocean City, MD for vacation), then read nothing for eight days (just wasn't feeling it). Closed out the month by reading 37 issues in the last 6 days (and really, it was 37 in 5 days, as I read nothing on July 31).
Best Thing I Read in July Well, I read Amazing Spider-Man #1 - 15, which normally would easily win the belt, but I also read the last few Jonah Hex stories in Weird Western Tales and the first 21 issues of his eponymous series, all of which were at least good, sometimes great. This has driven me to try to find some more Jonah Hex solo stuff in the bargain bins, which has not been successful yet, but I have a plan for September.
Worst Thing I Read in July I finally wrapped up my read of the original Iron Man series, which means I had to power through "Hands of the Mandarin", "The Crossing", and Teen Tony this month. As good old Stan would comment: "Nuff Said".
August Look-Ahead Will continue with the Heroes Return Iron Man series and through future IM series, as well as mix in some more early Amazing Spider-Man (I have all of the Epic Collections through issue #123, so I have a ways to go on that).

Read a decent amount of comic material in July, the equivalent of about 92 issues.
The Great -Olivia Butler's Kindred adaptation OGN -Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 1 -Superman Dailies 1939-1942 -Showcase 76 (1st Bat Lash) -Donald Duck Adventures 14 -Uncle Scrooge Adventures 18 -Folk Lords 1-5
The Good Tor (70s) Tor (2008) Abott 1-5 The Last Templar Vol. 1 The Kirby Fourth World stuff B&B 28-20, JLA 1
The disappointing or meh Ragman 1-5 Tommy Gun Wizards
on balance not a bad month of stuff read. Still spent more time reading prose than comics though.

Not quite the lowest month of the year, but if it hadn't been for a re-read of Ennis' The Night Witches it probably would have been. Wasn't going great guns on prose either. Work has been insane. My children being home takes a lot of my free time. Ah well.

Pretty memorable final month of summer before getting back to work as of this morning. I got in 13 Superman reviews, finished plowing through my piecemeal collection of Silver Age Superboy comics, began re-reading the Corto Maltese series now that the final volume has been published in English...I got a lot of comic into this month.

This month was pretty much a complete bust. If it weren't for Brubaker & Phillips' Pulp and Billionaire Island it would have been nada.
Spent the first part of the month with almost total reader's block. I got over it with prose, but I can find little to no interest in comics.
We'll see if something breaks it loose.

This was my lowest total of the year, but I spent most of the month reading prose. Epic fantasy books a huge and often engrssing, and I only really read comics as a palette cleanser between books or when I needed a break form the longer narratives.
Best of the month-Bat Lash, Pulp, Wynd, Foster Tarzan, and vol. 2 and 3 of the Fantagrpahics Usagi Yojimbo collections. The rest of the stuff was good to meh, nothing really terrible this month.

While some of my fellows here in the thread faced their lowest totals of the year, I myself was quite the opposite, reading 153 individual issues in August. A lot of that was helped by plowing through some early-2000s Iron Man runs as well as multiple Hellblazer TPBs, both of which tended to "read fast". Best Thing I Read In AugustReally been enjoying the Hellblazer stories I've picked up. This is a series that I am "collecting" only through used TPBs, so I'm reading them one story arc at a time in a haphazard manner. Also enjoyed some of the early Amazing Spider-Man I've been reading, although there are some things about it that I'm not a huge fan of. Worst Thing I Read In AugustYes, there is one book or story that is TECHNICALLY the worst thing, because there has to be something at the bottom of the list, but truth be told, there were no real stinkers this past month. Some of the Iron Man issues were a bit tedious, and I didn't like the Batman/Green Arrow graphic novel as much I had hoped to, but they weren't bad, just not great. September Look-AheadI plan to get through the current ASM Epic collection I'm reading, then I think I am finally going to go back and tackle Tomb of Dracula, which I had started a few years back and stopped after about the first 10 issues or so. That was at a time where I was in a position much like Slam_Bradley is in now, where I was trying anything I could to kickstart my interest in reading comics but nothing was sticking. Probably be a much lighter month in terms of books read, as Silver Age Spidey and TOD are much denser reads than 15-year old Iron Man.

Calling this now, as I likely won't read anything else this evening due to obligations. Read 107 books this month, although there were a larger-than-usual number of re-reads. Worked through N.E.X.T.Wave and the Abnett/Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy series because I needed a break from Silver Age Nick Fury, and I read the Weapon X series as it is on the chopping block to be eliminated from my collection, so I wanted to take one last look at it.
Best Thing I Read in September I revisited the series of one-shots Marvel did back in 1994 for Strange Tales (written by Kurt Busiek), Tales to Astonish (written by Mark Waid), and Tales of Suspense (James Robinson). I hadn't realized how good they were since I hadn't picked any of them up in 25 years. Also really enjoyed the Silver Age Strange Tales Nick Fury stories, as well as my annual re-read of N.E.X.T.Wave.
Worst Thing I Read in September Nothing. Technically, something would count as the "worst", but there was nothing bad at all.
October Look-Ahead Starting the month by re-reading Marvels, which are stored in the same box as the three one-shots I mentioned above. Probably will continue with Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man, and I am doing a final read through some 90s series that I own before I get rid of them, so I will likely go through Darkhawk, Silver Sable, and Sleepwalker at some point either this month or next as I look to start downsizing before the holidays.

Still spending more time reading prose than comics, so only the equivalent of 47 comics read in September, leaving me at 859 for the year. Need to average about 50 a month for the last 3 months of the year if I am to hit my goal of 1000.
The lowlights were definitely the Surge mini series spun off from DNAgents, and Undiscovered Country Vol. 1 (1-6) from Image, which wasn't bad, just didn't catch my fancy as much as I hoped it would.
The highlights included the two Matt Baker books I read (Lorna Doone & Richard and the Crusaders), DNAgents and Crossfire, Antar, Milestone #0, Buried Treasure #1, the two Jonah Hex issues I read, Foster's Tarzan and Kubert's Son of Sinbad.

Third really light month in a row as I still haven't been able to find anything that will hold my interest. I will put a bit of blame on Crusader Kings 3 dropping because that's a hell of a time suck.
But mostly it was just a few new books that I'm following.

My reading definitely dipped in September as I returned to work remotely while the kids returned to online learning. Lots more work for me. Fortunately/unfortunately, I began Family Medical Leave on Wednesday for a variety of reasons, and that should hopefully leave me with a little more time for reading/reviewing. Time will tell.
