The judges have spoken and while their selections of Nell Brinkley (of Brinkley Girl fame) and E. Simms Campbell(the father of Esky and the Map of Harlem) for the Eisner Hall of Fame are definitely more than worthy(I could have sworn Campbell was in already!) I was most pleased to see that Stan Sakai was eligible for entrance through the fan vote. Now, not just any fan can vote(sadly not I) but if you're a professional working in the comics field (whether as a writer, artist, cartoonist, colorist or letterer), a publisher or editor, a retailer (comics store owner or manager), a graphic novels librarian, or a comics historian/educator(hint, hint Cei-U!.) then you can cast your vote here for Stan and three other choices from the following list: Alison Bechdel Howard Cruse Moto Hagio Don Heck Jeffrey Catherine Jones Francoise Mouly Keiji Nakazawa Thomas Nast Lily Renée Peter Phillips Stan Sakai Louise Simonson Don and Maggie Thompson James Warren Bill Watterson It's a great class to be mentioned in, with a lot of great names but here's hoping Stan makes it!

As usual, a highly worthy list of candidates. Every year I have to temper my sentimental impulses when making my selections but I don't think there's anyway I can't vote for James Warren. Other than that, tough choices!

Other than that, tough choices! Yeah, it has to a difficult choice as there are just so many on that list that are worthy of entry. I think that were I eligible to vote that I'd go with Sakai, Lily Renee, Louise Simonson and Bill Waterson.

Given that she'll turn 99 (!) in May, it would be really special if Lily Renee received this long-overdue recognition.

Nast, the Thompsons (they're one entry, I assume) and Watterson.
But gee whiz, you've got to put in the old guard before they slip the surly bonds of Earth, right? So yes to Lily Renee.
