Thanks again everyone. I checked hondobrode 's handy list of cover topics and it looks like we haven't done this one before, so here goes: Post your favorite classic comic cover that includes typical playing cards--you know, the cards with suits (diamonds, clubs, etc.), aces, queens, jacks, etc. Covers with characters playing cards, or personifications of card suits or elements, as in my JLA example below, are fine. I'm sure you can come up with creative choices. But the Joker (Batman) just by himself would not fit this topic, however it's OK if the Joker is shown playing cards or if there's an obvious card motif. Rules:Post one classic cover that fits the theme of the contest. Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before February 2010. Covers must be posted before voting begins. Voting takes place on Tuesday, February 25th, beginning at 12:01 am PST and ending at 11:59 pm PST. Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or whose cover you simply like the best. Put your choice's name in bold.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends. The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest. If you don't think a cover fits the theme, don't vote for it. Please don't post disparaging remarks about it. If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point that out so that the poster can choose an alternate before voting begins. Two posters may not use the same cover. As always, have fun!

And then there were two! Only two covers remaining in my secret personal classic comics cover contest challenge! Thanks for picking a broad topic this week, Farrar! Hopefully I won't have to sit out three weeks in a row again to get to the end of this project, but with only two cover characters left on my roster, it's quite likely! Oh, and as a reminder, I only hit the "Like" button for covers that would have been permissible for my project had I not already used that character/team--another hint for any of you who wonder about my secret theme! But that means I can't hit "Like" on a lot of covers I really, really like!
