I'm surprised that Romeo Tanghal isn't getting more votes. I voted for him, anyway.

I'm surprised that Romeo Tanghal isn't getting more votes. I voted for him, anyway. I was not a fan; he inked Perez on The New Teen Titans, and I've always thought he was never the right fit to bring out the best of Perez in the way Klaus Janson did, who brought such a rich heft to his lines, as seen with his work on the Marvel adaptation of Logan's Run. Tanghal's lines were too thin and at times watered down Perez (of all artists).

It's a tie between Nebres and Redondo for me.

I am currently reading the new Deathstroke ongoing series with Christopher Priest helming the writing duties. Fantastic series. And the illustrator on some of the issues are Carlos Pagulayan, who illustrations are fantastic.

I read a Rafeal Kayanan comic book last night with the Conan #39 from the Dark Horse series.
I like alot of these artists. I love Alfredo Alcala's crazy heavy inking, some of my favorite comics are the Savage Sword stuff he did with John Buscema and his work on Swamp Thing in the 80s.
Alex Nino's illustrative work is really wild. I'm sure I have not seen his best stuff, but he always was one of those guys that many other comic artists would reference.
Don't know much of Nestor Redondo, but those couple Swamp Thing issues and a handful of his Warren stuff - and he was obviously an amazing artist.

Oh yeah, I remember Rafael Kayanan from Firestorm where he was excellent!

Nester Redondo, Alex Nino and Alfedo Alaca (and among other great artists that don't this criteria) are the reasons that House of Mystery and House of Secrets (and Pablo Marcos on Tales of the Zombie) are such great quality horror comics in the 70's from DC. Their artwork is amazingly detailed. Even if it was just a short 4 page story or something they all put in such amazing effort to illustrate what the writers were trying to convey. And I actually prefer the Showcase volumes, as I think a lot of the art is more fitting of the mood of horror/suspense that the color single issues.
I also happen to enjoy these Filipino artists' appreciation of a woman that isn't exactly your model super heroines that was the usual in American comics by American artists.

I love Pablo Marcos but he wasn't from the Philippines, was he? Peru, wikipedia says. An easy mistake to make, as the surname name is strongly associated with the Philippines because of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos.
