I was curious if any comic companies offered mail subscriptions like they did when I was a kid, and it turns out that DC and Marvel do. Sadly, neither Image nor IDW do though. But having discovered this, I'm curious if anyone here uses this service. Does the comic arrive in a bag so as not to get damaged on a rainy day I wonder. Just curious if anyone has tried this. I have used print subscriptions from Marvel before (currently have one for Conan the Barbarian). They are not actually from Marvel, they are through Midtown Comics in NYC. They come polybagged with a cardboard insert subscription order form, but as with any mail, corners can get bent and other minor dings can happen, so if condition really matters to you, you might reconsider. I also had a print mail subscription to Heavy Metal for a few years as it was about 1/2 off cover, but I let it lapse after Grant Morrison took over as EiC as all the interesting serials they were carrying were dropped and a lot of incoherent drek replaced it. I don't think I bothered opening up the polybag to read the last 2 issues of the sub it had gotten so bad.
I rarely buy Marvel books in print (as I have Marvel Unlimited) and only subscribe if it is a series I absolutely want to support and do so by saying I will buy at least 12 issues of this book. If I don't like it I don't renew, but it's really the only way to speak with the wallet to support marginal books or books for properties that hadn't been given a shot for a while.

Sadly, neither Image nor IDW do though.
I'm surprised IDW doesn't and yet some of their books are called 'subscription' variants. I always thought they were mail-copy exclusives (although any so-called exclusive lands on ebay anyway)
