I wish to nominate the Things Historical thread. Being a history buff it's nice to find something new brought up to explore. As this thread began prior to the window of time for this event, can you please update your write-up to address discussion that was particularly noteworthy in the past year? Specifically that it educates, entertains & sparks conversation while informing us of our culture and lives. This year covered Egyptian pharonic's to Vyomicj Code to British Armada's to the rRed Summer of 2019 to Apollo 11 to discovered ancient roman comic strip to Audie Murphy. Much of this was new to me and inspired me delving further into the internet & several book purchases to read later. Talk about varied subjects/discussion beyond a mere comics forum! I love it... |

I'll nominate the All Purpose Book Notes and Reviews thread. It's a great place to discover new books to read, get new insights into books you've already read, and just discuss books in general. -M The thread began in 2014, so if you are nominating it here, you would need to he nominating it specifically for content generated during this time frame. Could you update your summary to indicate specific discussion that happened in that thread this past year? Since this is the first time any of the threads in Community have been eligible for nomination in the Jamie Awards, is there any way we can grandfather those threads still active in 2019 to include their entire run? I get that we don't want to keep nominating the same stuff for past glories, but these threads never got their time in the spotlight previously since there was never any category that they were eligible for that I can recall. -M |

Also of note this year: much more limited responses/activities currently resulting from the pandemic lockdown along with (just noting) newer members joining/leaving & perhaps abit more hesitant in responding or voting? To open up nominations & votes only increases the participation & chances for the competition being more fun. Whaddya say?

Definitely, things are not business as usual, but many folks are on here more than they used to be now that they are sheltering in place. At any rate, I can't change the nominating time range and rules of the event in the middle of the event, my good man. That would be chaos. |

And I thought that they were about celebrating the best that the site had to offer, and these represent an area we failed to represent before, which has been a shortcoming of the awards because we neglected an entire section of the site. But if that's the way we are going to go, I'll simply add the phrase "In 2019" to my nominating blurb. -M |

However, I would ask you not to ruin everyone else's good time by poo-pooing the event either. |

It certainly wasn't a happy thread, but it was touching how the community collectively grieved over the loss of a comic book institution. I felt more connected to Mad than I had in years, as well as more connected to everyone feeling the loss along with me. |

I'm going to go with the thread about the pandemic's impact on comics it's current so it's on my brain, and the discussion of how the virus effected the hobby we all love was definitely thought provoking. I just realized no one seconded this one, so I absolutely do. |
