First episode of the new Stargirl series dropped at midnight, and I watched it soon after. The opening 5 minute sequence with the classic JSA in action was worth the price of admission alone. I like the cast, I like the tone, and the set up/premise cleaves pretty close to the initial comic by Johns and Moder (Johns has a pretty strong hand in the TV series too, I am not a huge fan of his but the stuff he did in this era-Stars and Stripe and JSA were the books of his I have enjoyed the most). The first episode was fun, and I am interested to see how the rest of the season plays out. Next episode drops in a week.

If you are watching it on the CW tonight instead of on the DCU app, be aware they've cut at least 3 scenes in the first half hour. The episode ran 53+ minutes without commercials on DCU but is being cut to fit a 1 hour block with commercials on the CW broadcast. Most hour long broadcast shows run 40-45 minutes, so 8-13 minutes of content will have to be cut to fit it in.

I watched it on the CW so I have no idea what scenes were missing. The editing must have been OK since the story made sense. Overall I liked this new addition to the DC TV Universe. One of my daughters loved the Stargirl comic and I just read her issues a few months ago. They did a good job adapting it to a TV series. Hopefully there will be more flashbacks to the classic JSA. Looking forward to next week.

One of my daughters loved the Stargirl comic and I just read her issues a few months ago. They did a good job adapting it to a TV series. Hopefully there will be more flashbacks to the classic JSA. Looking forward to next week. In the first half hour (I didn't pay close attention to the second half on WB) missing scenes that I noticed- When Pat brings Courtney to school there is a conversation in the car between them that sets up the dynamic between them that comes into play once she finds out he is Stripesy. After Courtney gets her ID before we get to the lunchroom scene, she is walking down the hall and sees Brainwave Jr. and others doing their shtick and is approached by the head cheerleader and her sidekick who try to recruit her, Courtney rejects them which sets up the end of the lunchroom scene where the girl calls her a bitch as the one who does is the head cheerleader we met earlier After Courtney is escorted out, there is a scenes with her in detention watching the clock and observing the guy who was sitting at her lunch table, then rushing out and trying to catch her bus, just missing it and having to walk home, and we see her walking through town meeting a few people. This helps set up the annoyance she is feeling at dinner when she storms off and heads downstairs to discover Pat's JSA stuff and the staff. I got distracted by a phone call and wasn't paying attention in the second half as my wife watched it, so I can't say if there was more cut from that portion. From what I saw it was mostly stuff establishing or developing Courtney's relationship with her surroundings and the people around her. Not necessarily crucial, but it does put a lot of what we do see in context and gives it some more meaning. My wife has decided to rewatch it on the app to see what she missed. -M

I had really high expectations for this, and it did not disappoint. Agree with mrp that the first five minutes were worth the price of admission alone. The visual of Pat pulling up to the mansion with the green light pouring out felt so perfectly comic-like, that I'm wondering if it's an actual panel in a JSA comic.

The opening JSA battle during the Stargirl pilot was pretty epic!

Just watched this last night - I know nothing about the actual character Stargirl (never read the comics), but I really enjoyed the show.
By the way, over here in Europe, where I am (Croatia, specifically), it's being aired (or streamed, I guess) by HBO.

Watched the 1st episode last week when it aired on the CW Tuesday night. Enjoyed it, though a little disappointed with the JSA being handed their butts and killed off rather "easily" since you have to get that out of the way to move forward with the Stargirl story. The acting and characters are done well, so once the "origin" is over and the series can begin moving forward it could be fun. As long as it doesn't become a reveal of the week each week for a new kid taking on the old hero identity. Recorded this weeks and think will wait until have more or the entire season recorded before binge watching it all.

Saw second episode. It really was part 2 of the pilot IMO. Origin is now fully established with some minor plot points still open. Looking forward to the new JSA that is coming.

Yep, first two episodes are like a pilot movie. Looks like it'll be a fun series.

I saw the pilot on the CW app and liked it.
Didn't remember the staff bonding mentally with the Star-person.
Looks interesting.

Episode 3 showed the JSA HQ. And got Stargirl thinking about building a new JSA. Another good episode.

Wow. 10 episodes in with 3 more to go and this series has been extremely entertaining. We have a new JSA. Courtney's Mom has discovered her secret. More deaths. Awesome villains.

I feel like this show really picked up with the two part "Shiv" story despite some of the teen melodrama. The later episodes' unexpected death and reveal were handled fairly well. I think the production value is some of the best CW has done as far as the sets, costumes, CGI and action sequences. Better than their other superhero stuff, and on par with similar shows like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, etc. I am really looking forward to the two part finale!
