Voting for this category has concluded. The results are as follows: Nominated and Seconded:foxleyPrince HalthwhtguardianFarrarIcctrombone_____________________________________________________________________________________ The original post: (See the Advance Warning before participating) Nominations for The Captain Jim Zimmerman Award (best overall member who most exemplifies the spirit of the CCF)1. Please post no more than one nomination for best overall member who most exemplified the spirit of the CCF in our sixth year of the CCF (between April 30th, 2019 at 9:22pm EST and April 30, 2020 at 9:21pm EST). 2. You must explain why you are nominating this member. This is the blurb that will end up in the CCF Hall of Fame if they win! 3. Please second no more than one nomination made by another member. You may not second your own nomination. 4. Any member that has previously won this award should not be nominated again unless they have done something especially different in the past year that is worthy of note. It is a given that past winning members continue to enrich the community. Let someone else have a turn 5. Any member receiving both a nomination and a second will be included in the final ballot for this award on May 29th. 6. Nominations and Seconds for this round conclude on May 26th. 7. Absolutely NO negative talk about another member, nor another member's nomination. The very purpose of this event is to salute our members and discussions for all they contribute to this community. Though only one member will ultimately receive this award, you have the potential to thank and maybe touch any member you choose to nominate or second. Please don't use this opportunity to hurt or deflate someone. So start your nominating!

I nominate foxley for the CJZ award. He's prolific in posting and I've never seen an instance when he got snarky with any of the other members. Hey, he cleans up the Classic Cover Contest every week for us sleeping beauties. Generally a good guy.

I nominate Prince Hal for the great humanity he manifests, both when traveling down the road of a comic lover's memory or when discussing what happens in the world around us. Frank and witty, knowledgeable and compassionate, funny as can be, he's truly a pillar of this community.

I'm going to go ahead and nominate Slam_Bradley as his views on everything from books, tv shows, film and especially music never cease to be insightful and his overall humorous and friendly tone make just about anything he posts a must read. And how could one not want to second a nomination for Hal? He's funny, friendly and open to discuss just about everything.

I nominate thwhtguardian. Beyond the fact that he volunteers for the Mod Squad, he tirelessly promotes new comics and is unfailingly polite and positive.
This is not a quid pro quo. No need for an investigation.

Thank you, Roquefort Raider, Icctrombone, and thwhtguardian. Cliché alert: Just proud to be nominated and mentioned with the other nominees. But remember, every cliché begins as a truth. Now, the real reason I stopped in, to nominate Farra for the Captain Jim Award. I base my nomination on an array of reasons. Let's begin with Farrar's detailed knowledge of comics and of the Silver Age in particular. Look at any of Farrar's posts in the Fifty Years Ago thread or the Cover Contest thread for immediate examples. Farrar also displays unfailing courtesy, kindness, and openness. And I'm not just talking about how well those skills are wielded in Farrar's role as a mod, either, which is yet another example of commitment to the forum. Farrar always has an encouraging word to say to everyone who posts and looks unfailingly for the best in each poster, finds something encouraging to say, and corrects oh so gently. That's a fine line to walk on a board like this. We all know how easy it is to misread what are essentially flurries of e-mails, but Farrar always speaks to everyone with graciousness and acceptance, no matter the subject. And, most important, Farrar always has the best interests of the community in mind, a principle that stands front and center in every one of Farrar's posts. Do I hear a second?

This is hard, because I would vote for any of these nominees in a heartbeat. Still, one more I'd love to see added to these ranks of well-deserving Friendly Regulars is Icctrombone. I've said it during past Jamie Awards -- I truly believe George loves this community more than any of us (possibly even me). He cares deeply about every regular member here, even the ones he disagrees with, and he brings so much fun, joy, and kindness to his contributions on a daily basis. The spirit of the CCF? George has got it in spades.
