Requirements. One working brain.
Batman, Robin and Alfred go into a restaurant. They order an evening buffet and agree to split the bill which comes up to $30. Each pulls out a $10 bill.
The waiter, Joker, realises that Alfred qualifies for a senior citizen discount of $5. He reaches for 5 one dollar bills in the cash register. On his way to the table to give Alfred his discount, he changes his mind. He gives each of them a dollar and keeps two for himself.
Eagerly taking their rebate, each concludes they paid $10, got $1 back, and concludes dinner cost $9 per person.
$9 x 3 persons = $27.
Joker kept 2 bucks.
$27+$2 = $29.
But $30 was originally spent.
Where did that last dollar go?

The left-overs were bagged with a backing board for a $1 charge
But seriously, the Joker taking $5 out of the register has nothing to do with the price of the dinners. These are 2 different math problems that are not to be combined. The dinner's were $30 and they got $3 credit. The Joker could have taken $100 out of the register (and probably will) and its got nothing to do with the cost of the dinners
He's just an idiot to do this when Batman's around

Jonah Hex's mother had 4 children in all. The first one was named May. The second and third were called June and July respectively. What was the fourth child's name?

Where did that last dollar go? The cost of the meals was 25 dollars, Joker stole 2 dollars. Bruce and friends paid 27 dollars, so there's no dollars missing.

The misdirection seems to be in the Joker deciding to give each a dollar back, but since Alfred was the only one that should have gotten the discount, he should have gotten all three bucks. Simplifying it like this, all the money is easily accounted for: 30 -5 (25) + 3 (28 for money given back) + 2 (the Joker stole) for 30.
