I LOVE Beanworld - the new-ish stories in the HC volumes were neato. And hey, remember that weird cross over series TOTAL ECLIPSE where Sienkiewicz kinda drew a bean? I do indeed. I have that run... it's penultimate dollar-bin material. Boy, was it a hot mess of a story! As diverse as their titles were, what was Eclipse thinking when they said, "Hey guys! let's play like the 'Big Boys' and do a crossover of all our biggest titles!"As a fan of many Eclipse titles, my response was, "umm... no. let's not."

I liked elements of Total Eclipse, but it worked better for the more integrated properties, like Tim Truman's 4 Winds imprint. To be fair, the Big Boys were doing just as badly, post-Crisis, as most of their inter-company crossovers were a hot mess. First also tried it, with Crossroads, but on a smaller scale. they at least had a built in vehicle, in Cynosure, the interdimensional city of grimjack, that crossed paths with all other realities. Each issue had one or two characters meet, then one of them linked the next and so on. Total Eclipse did have Marv Wolfman involved; so, it isn't like they had some rookie on it. There was also the Benworld/Scout crossover, where Scout is in a sweat lodge, purifying, after escaping imprisonment and drug "therapies" (thorazine and such), and hallucinates one or more of the Beans.

Never read Crossroads (although I am a Jon Sable fan), but Tim Truman's Scout is a true hidden gem in the comic world.
