So I just watched THE OLD GUARD, a new action film on Netlix staring Charlize Theron. I had no idea it was based on a comic by Greg Rucka - he even wrote the screenplay. I enjoyed it - the plot (without giving much away and keeping it simple) is there's a small band of immortals who fight the righteous fight. Now i want to read the original Image comic   |

I read the comic a year or so ago via Hoopla. I generally like Rucka very much, this one was just kind of meh for me. Not bad, better than a lot of other stuff, but not one of his that really resonated with me. I was hoping for something that rose to the level of Queen & Country or Lazarus, and it just wasn't it. Haven't seen the series, but considering how big my queue of stuff to watch is, I don't foresee getting to it any time soon either. But if my wife ends up watching it while I am home, I may see bits and pieces of it.

While not perfect, I found it an enjoyable 2 hours. But yeah, I really love Lazarus - this is no Lazarus |
