In the past we have ruled that covers to fanzines and other ephemera that are comic-adjacent but not comics were ineligible and it used to be clearly stated in the rules it had to be a cover of a comic or collection of comics but that seems to have disappeared form the rules in the process of copying and pasting over the years and only the date requirement is still there. If people want to allow it, I'm fine with that, but that goes against the precedent we have traditionally followed. -M While it's a great Steranko cover, it has to a comic cover. No it doesn't. We agreed a few years back comic fanzines, which this is, qualifies.

I like the cover that tarkintino first posted, and I feel that this is one rule that is often overlooked:
- If you don't think a cover fits the theme, Please don't post disparaging remarks about it, just don't vote for it.

Depends on the meaning of disparaging? I want to know where the cover is from. I thought that Steranko was from a comic, I think it is good to know it's not. We can then go forward and decide to vote on it or not, with all the pertinent info.

It wasn't about fitting the theme. If it was eligible, I might have voted for it, since it was the wallpaper on my desktop for a long time. But like when someone posts a cover that isn't quite 10 years old and isn't eligible or when someone posts a cover that has already been used, I was posting to make sure so if it wasn't Tarkintino had a chance to post a cover that was. We had a situation like this in the cover contest at our old home where someone posted a fanzine cover, which was ineligible, and it didn't get pointed out until after voting had started and it was winning by a landslide, so it couldn't win, the poster didn't get to post an eligible entry, and several people's votes were wasted on an ineligible cover, and the consensus was it should have been addressed and clarified before voting started. So when it happened here, I said something immediately so if it was ineligible, all that could be avoided. I know when we started the contest it was in the rules that it had to be a comic, because I started the first contest when we moved it here and the only change to the rules from the old place was to add the 10 year old requirement because we focus on classic comics here. At some point, that was dropped from the small print copied and pasted into the initial post, but I don't know when of if it was a conscious decision or an oversight. AS I said, if people were cool with it being eligible that was fine with me, I just wanted to make sure so we could avoid any issues if it wasn't. -M

It was a dirty trick to keep quiet until he was blowing out everyone with the cover , to disqualify the great cover. I think Fanzines were admitted a while ago in the CCF. Lets just make a quick poll and decide.

Pointing out that a cover does not come from a published comic book or collected volume is not disparaging (derogatory towards; insulting) a person's cover choice. It's providing information that the cover is not from a published comic book.

Cripes! I just don't even care anymore. If the poster wants to post the original cover then he can do so....
