There is a bit of a tangent on this topic going on in the What Classic Comics Have You Purchased thread, but it deserves its own thread for discussion and images. I became interested in it on a road trip to visit my mom a couple years back where we took the scenic route rather than interstates and drove through a number of small towns in upstate New York and I came across a statue of Marmaduke and it's creator Brad Anderson in Brocton, NY. Foolish me didn't document it, but I did a little googling and found this photo of the statue





I continued to look to find some other examples of similar phenomenon, not always in hometowns, but honoring comic strip characters or artists.


In Idaho Springs there's a Steve Canyon statue...
