My fiance got me a bunch of Wave 1 and 2 figures for our anniversary. I promptly (and carefully) pried them out of those beautiful boxes in order to play with my nine year old and, I've got to tell you, they are MUCH nicer looking up close. I'm truly surprised by the quality of the paint and plastic. I expected this to be a step down from the old Marvel 3.75" line, but while the articulation is less, the attention to detail is far better.

I've got the classic Spidey and Electro sitting in my "Pile of Loot" at BBTS, can't wait to ship those here shortly.
I love this line of figures...to me it's like the Marvel missing link between Mego's and Secret Wars figures back in the day. As a kid collecting Star Wars figures in the late 70's/early 80's, these would have fit right in from the style of figure to the design of the cards. Black costume Spider-Man is a must!

Actually found two in the wild at the Walmart up by my in-laws in Bellefontaine...  they had Electro too, but I've never had an affinity for the character and I am not a completist when it comes to toy lines (I prefer to get only the ones I like, a bad figure or a figure of a character I don't like doesn't become any more attractive to me if I own others in the line, especially at the prices modern toys sell at, an unappealing figure is still an unappealing figure to me no matter how many of the line I also own), so I left it there for someone who actually wants it. -M |

Found a Black Panther in the wild at Wallyworld today... -M I don't have it in front of me, but I swear mine had different coloring on the package, almost certainly not that overpowering red. EDIT: Yup. Apparently, there are variants.  |

It's possible it sat in the back or in a distribution warehouse for a while before getting to the peg, of course. Not sure. Our Walmart had the Iron Man/Panther two packs earlier in the week, which I passed on, because I already had Iron Man. Those were gone today when I found this one, but it is possible one of them got damaged and they just put out the Panther figure, but I doubt it would have worked that way with the UPCs and all, so possible but unlikely. -M |

I think I might like that color scheme on the figure better, but I ain't running around chasing variants or paying for figures twice, so I Am content with the one I got. If I happened to run into one in the wild, I might be tempted though. -M |
