Summary: Jake(the new Werewolf by Night) wants to protect his people, but who will protect him from the monster within?
Plot: Just in time for Halloween Taboo(from the Black Eyed Peas) and Benjamin Jackendoff deliver a new twist on one of my favorite Marvel horror characters. All in all I was a little bit disappointed, it's not that it's a terrible book by any stretch but rather it's just a book that did not live up to my expectations, either. Over all, my main complaint is that the story needs some work and needs to give the reader something to grasp onto. There are some interesting ideas introduced and I liked the Native American twist to the mythology and what little we saw of the characters was decent but it skips past all that to get to the "mystery" around the pharmaceutical company. If the story had been paced slower and developed the setting and characters more this easily could have been a home run, but instead it just barely squeeks onto first base earning at least one more look but little else.
Art: The art fares a bit better, but still not as dynamic and eye-catching as I was hoping for. This was a book that needed a real sense of mood and someone used to the unique visual language of horror comics and instead it had the simplicity of a slightly basic action comic which just didn't fit the concept at all.

Summary: Raphael and Alopex enjoy a date night in Mutant Town while Leo infiltrates Old Hob's base and learns his plans.
Plot: This was a bit of a mixed bag for me, but not really because of any one element from the issue itself. Campbell continues to truly excel in the more intimate character moments; delivering us both an excellent adult look at the relationship between Raph and Alopex and a great look at Leo's softer side at being a leader as he commends the young weasel triplets for being able to follow him with out his knowing. However, when it comes to the bigger picture Campbell really falters, these last ten issues have had some truly great character moments but there has been no real hint at a cohesive larger plan which is in strict contrast to the previous 150+ issues(if one counts the plethora of minis and one shots) which were so tightly plotted. So it's not that the writing is really weak in the issue but rather a wish for something than slice of life stories; that kind of storytelling is great in its own right but after ten issues I'm feeling like I need something more especially considering all the dangling threads about the Foot Clan, Karai, the Utroms and heck even how the wider wold regards the existence of Mutant Town. With the way ended with Leo and the weasel tots rushing back to the Splinter Clan Dojo hopefully we see a more coherent direction for the book in the coming issues. 
Art: I just have to say that that I love Nishijima's take on the Turtles. They're characters with these big, open, rubbery faces and yet she is able to portray honest to goodness emotional expression with a real, naturalistic subtleness that would just seem impossible to do. The way that Raph and Alopex look at eachother as they mount the motorcycle after their date is just pure magic, their feelings for eachother are on full display with out a single word uttered. It's just perfect from start to finish.
