you know, the one teased in the FCBD issue?
I'm not seeing any solicitations regarding it. .and now that they have this huge "King in Black" stuff going on, I'm wondering if the Dark Ages stuff got shelved?
honestly, the Xmen portion of the FCBD issue had me scratching my head/confused, and I didn't bother at all with even following the X of Swords mess (even when I had chance to read it for free).
but that intro to the "Dark Ages". . where Iron Man suddenly drops out of the sky when his suit shuts down? that had my interest.
is it still gonna happen?
linking a few key pages, since it was in the Free Comic Book Day issue. . so it's not like posting something that folks should have bought.
here's the pages that hooked me.

Dark Ages? About time! The Marvel Universe has been far too bright and cheerful these past few decades.

That looks horrid.
Why do these guys think readers want to see the heroes dismembered and broken down all the time?

That's also completely different art that the current Iron Man book... not to mention Mary Jane is no longer a supporting character... is it possible poor response to the FCBD book lead to it getting scrapped? I found this article that lists this story (and some others) that got delayed with the COVID break and never resumed (though pretty sure America Chavez at least I noticed in solicits in March): www.gamesradar.com/missing-marvel-titles-2020/

No way they are killing Iron Man, it must be a what if? story.

No way they are killing Iron Man, it must be a what if? story. I believe it was/is planned to be an "alternate universe" type thing.
and I only posted the 3 pages that I thought hooked me, but that's supposed to be Pepper Potts (they name check her, while Tony's on the phone with her). here's a couple of more random pages from the FCBD issue:
I don't think for a second Iron Man is dead. . the point of the story is that Technology is now "gone" due to some event (earlier in the story, Tony is emergency calling Cap/Avengers, when his suit goes out).
so the concept really sounds interesting.
here's the final page of the story:

No way they are killing Iron Man, it must be a what if? story. Of course they would, they'll kill anyone in the short term, especially in event stories to add drama/shock value/sales hype, only to bring them back some time later in another hyped/marketed storyline. Besides, Tony has died in the cinematic universe already, so following suit in comics would only be synergy. But I do think this is meant to be some kind of alternate MU, much like the Injustice books for DC that Tom Taylor does that get a lot of buzz. I think trying to capture that vibe/buzz is the whole reason they brought Taylor to the table, unleash him and let him do whatever grimdark stuff he likes to do (I've not read anything he has done that isn't grimdark from the first time I encountered his work on the new52Earth-2 book onwards) and audiences seem to eat up without impacting your main bread and butter shared universe. -M

That is a FAR inferior set up to Injustice (which is really good). I guess they're going with a MCU-ish set up then... pretty sure Pepper isn't speaking to Tony in the comic atm (though that does change rather quickly and frequently)
I agree with MRP, killing people off for shock value and bringing them back a couple months later is kinda Marvel's jam these days.
Tony himself has died twice in the last 10 years? 3 times? I lost track. (that's not counting the movie)

It's been a year but it's out now...and it's about as bad as I expected. That said, I do dig the steam punk Iron man teased at the end, I won't actually be picking up the next issue to see who it is under the armor as it looked like Tony died but it's a neat design.

I read the first issue. It was okay, and I like aftermath stories when everything has gone to hell. I wonder if Tom Taylor got this gig for his work on DCeased? Because that was a good story, even with the spinoffs. Anyway, this didn't grab me like that did. Might continue reading down the line. We'll see.

It really boggles my mind that enough fans still support events to keep them viable. I started backing away from event books very early in my comic reading experience. I remember seeing it for what it was as far back as X-Tinction Agenda in X-Men (which I just gave up on and ignored in regards to the titles I wasn't reading) and the first Infinity Gauntlet crossover (ditto). This gimmick never worked on me. The very concept is anathema to how I want to engage with these characters.

I thought this was going to be an event with evil versions of the heroes who all have "Dark" before their names.

That said, I do dig the steam punk Iron man teased at the end, I won't actually be picking up the next issue to see who it is under the armor as it looked like Tony died but it's a neat design. Got my hands on issue 1 & 2. . it's not great. (mainly because I'm NOT a fan of whom the main villain is. . hated the focus on him back in the 80-90s when was picking up X-factor).
also not a fan of the "let's kill lots of main characters. . it will be shocking". . so for certain not in continuity.
that said? I'm reading them for free, so it's not like I'm paying that $5 an issue for it.
and I will give Marvel kudos. . in that the images/story that's in the FCBD issue are NOT in this book. Yes, the mini explains why what happened in the FCBD issue happened. . but they don't reference it, or show it. (the FCBD story happened concurrent with the events in issue 1 of the mini-series).
so . . . not great, but better than I expected.
and the art was nice.
