I'll probably be around (not next weekend tho (4/11)). Ditto--on the 11th there's actually an real-life, in person comics show (billed as Syracuse Punk Rock Flea Market Geek Garage Sale Comic Vinyl Toys--one of the organizer's infamous attempts to cast as wide a net as possible to sell those tables!) that I'm going to try to go to. Guess what got postponed 'til August? |

Guess what got postponed 'til August? Sorry to hear that. There have been a couple of toy shows that have taken place here at fairgrounds outdoors or in the big exhibition halls, and the Harper comic shows have taken place, but I have avoided all of them thus far (I wouldn't have gone to the Harper shows anyways as he had posted some odious things over the last year and uses money from the shows to support causes I do not want to help fund so I no longer go to his shows) and have been surprised they took place. The show I am targeting is one of the Jim and Dan shows I regularly attended pre-pandemic which is scheduled for the end of June. I'll be fully vaccinated, so I will be willing to go, and I know I will be hugely disappointed if it gets cancelled or postponed. Gem City is scheduled for July, and I am hoping to go to that one as well, but right now it's wait and see and keeping fingers crossed. -M |

Definite "Maybe". My son is supposed to come over and visit on Sunday, I think we're going to watch the Snyder Cut JLA. Not sure what time of day this will be.

event at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio), with Sunday afterparty at ZDTs in Sequin - I'm staying over, since we get ERT (exclusive ride time) after park close on Sat. . so it will be a LONG day and didn't want to drive back. I had more than enough points for a free room at Marriott, so staying over in San Antonio, and won't be back in Austin until dinner time on Sunday. tho I DID also just grab (luckily, since it sold out in 15 minutes!) a ticket for Coasterstock at Kings Island (in Ohio) for early July. I've never been before, and a friend who was thinking about it, mentioned to me that it's fun and tix were going on sale 4/5. . so I tried to get a ticket. That's what I did most of the day on Monday: once I got a ticket, spent the morning booking flight, rental car, hotel, etc. . .  |

Won't be able to join this weekend. Driving a buddy out of town for a funeral Saturday. Staying overnight so he can visit with his family and driving home Sunday morning. You all have fun and Zoom safely now y'hear?

Either way, I salute your passion! 90 seconds? it's a two day event (~16 hours each day) with ERT for 2 hours before park is open to public, and 2 hours each night after the park closes to public. (with a choice of several of their most popular coasters open for ERT - combined with the limited tickets sold? yeah. . we'll get a lot of rides in during those 8 total hours of ERT).
not to mention that while the park IS open to the general public? those attending the event get all kinds of behind the scenes tours (walking tours thru restricted areas), special events (such as getting to ride Flight of Fear - the parks indoor coaster - with the lights on), presentations, Q&A's with park mgmt, souvenir shirts/lanyards/pins, several catered meals, and unlimited sodas
it's well worth it to attend an event like this, and very hard to get a ticket.
you have to be a member of one of 8 certified "coaster clubs" to even be eligible to purchase a ticket - and yes, they sent a questionnaire out yesterday asking which group I'm a member of and my membership # (to validate my ticket purchase). I'm a member of one valid club, but I joined a 2nd one on Monday, just to be safe, so would have a current ID card, which they'll make us show at entrance for check in on 1st day |

I'm sure will be doing lots of the event stuff.. but if you're in the park, would love to meet up for a drink or just to say 'hey'
(I fly in late Thurs, in park from 8am-midnight on Fri/Sat, and then fly home early Sun. . so really no time to meet up unless you're in the park!)
