probably not. I'm playing catch up (sleep, laundry, DVRed shows) and although I don't go back to work until tomorrow? I'm giving Nick a wide berth until Thursday, to ensure no Delta picked up at Dragon*con.
- which translates as I'm trying not to be in office when he's in here. . . . so if he's in here, I can't make it.
but will see.

We had a discussion last night about the Black Widow movie and the law suit she launched against MU to recover what she lost when they moved the picture into Disney Plus. The movie is the top grossing movie of this year. brutalis, you implied that the movie was a lack luster movie that under performed. I think it might have made close to 300 million domestically if allowed to stay in the theaters.

I think it might have made close to 300 million domestically if allowed to stay in the theaters. It was enjoyable, but in my opinion it was mediocre/mid level in respect to the MCU. I wanted "more" Widow and in that sense she was lessened by so much focus upon her "family" and that IMO Johansson was shown up by the other actors. And without digging into the numbers, it has been stated all over that Widow's weekend release was less than spectacular due to it's simultaneous release on Disney+ and limited showings in theaters. Hollywood doesn't always respect the long term revenue of movies. The big BANK and a lot of what Hollywood works off of is the BIG INITIAL OPENING WEEKEND. That's what seems to drive the Suits in charge these days.

I'm guessing that Scarjo saw the quick inclusion of the film into Disneyplus as a sabotage to getting all she was due, money wise.

Sorry I missed it. I started watching a movie in the afternoon and forgot all about the ZOOM meeting.
I’m a bad person.
I’m usually busy and I have to sort of make a mental schedule to fit the ZOOM meeting into my day. But yesterday there was nothing and I did laundry and finished a book about Uruguay and went to the library and walked the dog and started watching Philomena and when it was over I realized I had missed the ZOOM meeting.
Now Sunday, I’m busy in the morning and I’ll be focused on getting home before it starts.

I'm guessing that Scarjo saw the quick inclusion of the film into Disneyplus as a sabotage to getting all she was due, money wise. Here's what CNBC reported : «According to the filing, Johansson’s representatives had sought assurances as far back as 2019, when Disney+ was preparing to launch and Disney executives suggested that Marvel Cinematic Universe content would be available exclusively on the service. The lawsuit includes a response from Marvel’s chief counsel, which confirmed “Black Widow” would be released like other MCU films. “We understand that should the plan change, we would need to discuss this with you and come to an understanding as the deal is based on a series of (very large) box office bonuses,” the response reads.» In other words, if Johansson's lawyer is right, Disney wasn't supposed to do what it did but went ahead anyway. I'm not going to cry over how many millions movie stars end up making over a movie, but fair is fair and a contract is a contract. Pay up, Disney!
