Not if you put them to work around the place... while you "supervise".
Picking up rocks or sticks (as my father used to say, anything big enough to trip a mouse!) from the yard is a great productive activity for YA's, and keeps them out of your hair and off the electronic devices. There's nothing quite like unofficial indentured servitude to make the kids appreciate what they have. 
My father also used to say, "If you don't finish the job, don't bother showing up at the dinner table."
I now know that he wasn't 100% serious, but back then I could never be quite sure. That's an incentive right there. I'm kidding a bit here... sometimes it's more important to spend what little quality time you have with your kids before they leave the nest forever.
