there's a copy of Wings 94 in Lonestar's April Prime Auction that is already on my watch list (not that anything in the Prime Auctions goes for prices in my comfort zone). -M I was impressed by how many red dress covers a cursory search yielded for that title. I feel your pain re: those prices!

I feel your pain re: those prices! This is a fun little "sidequest" (to use a D&D term) in my collecting comics, not my primary focus. There are a couple of covers I have targeted and keep an eye out for, and I am always welcoming discovering new covers, but I am not likely to lay down major money for a red dress cover unless there is something else about the book that piques my interest. I am always interested in pre-Silver Age books (I have a fondness for certain genres that were big in the late 40s and 50s) but my budget keeps me in the low grade range at best for those kind of books. When I go to shows and shops, I have a impulse buy limit that I try to stick to, i.e. a price I won't go over on impulse. So when I see a cover like the Wings book, I will keep an eye on it, but if it is selling for more than that limit, I am probably not going home with it. Now if I came across a Spirit #22 I could afford, that limit wouldn't apply, as it is a book of interest outside just the red dress cover. -M

Another decidedly non-glamorous red dress cover.

Marvel's Barbie and Barbie Fashion had a handful of covers with red dresses; I especially liked these 2 I wasn't buying the book when it came out (not the target audience, eh?), but I'm tempted to pick some up one of these days, just for the covers. I never even paid attention to the Barbie Comics as they were coming out. Since you posted this I have looked at a couple of shops, and there's very little out there (none of them red dress covers that I found), but what is out there is surprisingly pricey. I haven't seen an issue priced under $15 at a shop yet, and some significantly higher. Lonestar averages about $10 for high grade copies (but less for lower grades) which is better than I have seen in the wild. I am assuming there is a demand for these coming form Barbie collectors not comic collectors to sustain that kind of pricing (or I could just be encountering shops that are overpricing on them). -M

A and Lois Lane has plenty to offer, but I get a kick out of this one: I just found a copy of this on ebay at a decent price and put it on my watch list, and about an hour later the seller sent me an offer for an even better price, so I jumped on it. He had a couple other books I liked, so I ended up getting 4 books from him, total, one of the others being another red dress cover by Joe Simon... I'll post the actual books in the Purchased thread when they arrive. -M

I put up a half dozen red dress covers that I own on display over my computer desk today (Along with some Scarlet Witch covers) after installing some v-channel on the wall to make a display area. You can see the results in the Chez-Show Us What You Got thread-M

While looking for something else, I stumbled on this cover and immediately thought of this thread:

This is a Marvel comic of Black Mariah. Well in the cover she is not wearing a dress per say but she is with a dress in the right side. Maybe could be a interesting one looks recent too.

Just came across this Darwyn Cooke cover variant that I don't think I'd seen before. Fatale #15.
