"Do you want to live FOREVER?"
(trick question: this is an EXACT quote, NOT a mis-quote. heh heh heh)

From Conan the Barbarian when Valeria comes back as a Valkyrie to save him.
Also slightly altered in Starship Troopers as Come on you apes. You want to live forever? Which is likely taken from the Marine's during the war as come on you son of a bitches, do you want to live forever?
And immortalized by Queen in song for Highlander as WHO wants to live Forever?

That's interesting! I just re-watched CONAN a few weeks ago, but never picked up on that line. You may find this amusing. It's a film written by Lorenzo Semple Jr. One of the most famous lines in the 1980 " FLASH GORDON", is when King Vultan yells out, " WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER?" That's why I said I was not mis-quoting, but giving an exact quote. It's The Penguin in the 1966 movie " BATMAN". The submarine is being bombarded by electronic "bat-charges", all 4 villains are panicking, and Burgess Meredith says " DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER?", a moment or two before the Joker orders the sub to surface. One almost gets the impression that of the 4 of them, Penguin is the only one obsessed enough that he might have picked death over surrender. All those years I felt like that line from Vultan was already a badly overused cleche, but I never connected this until yesterday. Same writer, 2 completely crazy movies.
This thread can be used for more like this. NEXT?

Philip Marlowe to Carmen Sternwood in The Big Sleep. Give the man a brandy. The screenplay for that movie is insanely good.

"Is he as cute as you?" "NOBODY is."
Ah, that's too easy. (And I was just watching it a week ago.)
"You mean... you don't want money?" "Oh, SURE. All I ITCH for is money."

The screenplay for that movie is insanely good. I had a hard time trying to think of a line that wouldn't be instantly recognizable to somebody familiar with the movie.

I had a hard time trying to think of a line that wouldn't be instantly recognizable to somebody familiar with the movie. Another favorite of mine is...
"What about me?" "What's wrong with YOU?" "................Nothing YOU couldn't fix."
I saw the 1978 film. NEVER once got lost. Then I read the novel. NEVER once got lost. Then I saw the Howard Hawks film... couldn't make heads or tails of it!
After seeing it 6 TIMES... it finally started to make sense.
Now, I've lost count of how many times I've seen BOTH films. I love 'em both... for completely different reasons.

"I don't think it's fair to condemn an entire program on the basis of a single slip-up." Dr. Strangelove, I believe. One of the all-time most-quotable movies.

"I don't think it's fair to condemn an entire program on the basis of a single slip-up." Dr. Strangelove, I believe. One of the all-time most-quotable movies. My favorite is Slim Pickens reciting the contents of the survival packs, particularly the tag line. That is closely followed by George C Scott saying words tot he effect that "Gen Ripper has exceeded his authority." That phrase came to mind far too often, while I was in the military.
