And for your real piece of trivia, Jaffa cakes are responsible Britain having a legal definition of the difference between a cake and a biscuit ('cookie' to you Americans). Because cakes and biscuits attract different amounts of sales tax, an argument developed as to whether Jaffa cakes were cakes or biscuits, and therefore how much tax they attracted. It was eventually determined that the difference is that cakes grow hard as they age, while biscuits grow soft.
Truly a debate for the ages! But seriously that's the most interesting thing I've heard all week, and will definitely find a way to work it into conversation. "Hello officer, what seems to be the problem? Was I speeding? Here's an interesting tidbit... you see, in Britain they have a legal definition of the difference between a cake and biscuit....."

Now that it appears that the Flash tv show is being canceled, I’m hoping that Flash #197 will come down to earth in price.

I just went to the basement to pull that out of a junk long box of 2000's comics I bought back in the day. Didn't even have it bagged. My mind is blown...TV show exposure aside, there is nothing remotely scarce about this issue. I get the supply/demand concept as always, but this is getting really very silly IMO.

I don't get it... PRofessor Zoom certainly appeared before 2003... how is this a 1st appearance? I was kinda done with the book after Waid left... did Johns make his own?

It appears that the Zoom character is a newer version introduced in this issue.

Maybe we can swing a deal ... I do need to reread this issue and some of the other ones from that time I had stored away, in truth I can't remember if I even liked this and want to keep any of them including this one! The Mark Waid run was more memorable to me, whereas Geoff Johns stood out to me more on GL.

I saw somewhere that the Zoom character was coming back for the final season.

^ probably. . but the show ending after next season is not the same as "cancelled". . and I have feeling we'll see a season 9 of Flash.
they never officially said next year's season 8 is the "Final" season. . that's all speculation because they were trying to get Grant Gustin to sign a contract. (they've introduced so may speedsters, they can easily drop in an alternate universe Wally West and continue the show with him as the lead if they want to).

I saw somewhere that the Zoom character was coming back for the final season. Unverified. Tom Cavanaugh has only publicly said that he is willing to come back for a finale as Reverse Flash to complete the circle of the series.

Why would someone pay $50 shipping for comic book? Because you find it somewhere very far away from you. Yesterday I won an auction for Hulk #228, the comic itself was $57, but shipping and taxes go up to $42.50. The thing that really itches, is that I had located a local (same country) copy in a lesser condition for about 20€. I say "about" because the seller didn't give me a quote for postage; after three weeks actual payment was never made.

I’ve noticed CGC books are around 25.00 to 50.00 shipping Others have mentioned that these auctions might be overseas situations but with the Post office, you could ship it Express mail for less than that and the winner gets it the next day. I believe that some sellers like to pad their sale with the shipping. They most certainly do. I'm in an auction now, for a comic I will have shipped to someone in the UK (he doesn't ship outside) so they forward it to me. Why? Because another seller, who did offer international shipping, wanted £15 for something that takes about £9 in postage. And this is just the most recent case I've encountered, I seen worse when it comes to "packaging & handling".
