Bloodstone #1, by Abnett and Lanning from 2001, is currently selling on eBay for $200+ raw. It’s the first appearance of Elsa Bloodstone, a fairly obscure character from a fairly obscure mini-series, but the rumors are out that since she’s dating Deadpool in the comics, she might make an appearance in a third Deadpool movie.
This is currently selling for more than the highest price I’ve paid for any comic in my entire collection, which is utterly absurd.
On the flip side, however, I happened to pick up this obscure mini-series when it first came out, so...

I sold mine that I bought off the stands when it was selling for $50 because I didn't think it was a sustainable price. Shows what I know (or don't know as the case may be). -M

I am so glad I got a full high-grade set of Nova, all 25 issues or so, for about twenty bucks 10 years ago.
That's like 80c each for NM copies....#1 is going for up to several hundred by itself. I shooed off a couple guys who wanted to buy my set

While it doesn't DIRECTLY relate to comic collecting, I'm deeply concerned that Logan Paul's reckless investment is about to put a serious damper on the current collectibles bubble. Allegedly, he was largely responsible for the rise in Pokemon card values in the first place.

Wow, I didn't realize that was a thing.

Wow, I didn't realize that was a thing. Anything is a thing if an overhyped multi-millionaire youtuber says it's a thing.

It's the Zeck page from Secret Wars #8, first appearance of the black suit.

Yup. There is a lot of speculation that many of these wacko major purchases are being done by recent bitcoin millionaires, looking to turn their profits into more tangible (and, perhaps, more sustainable) long-term investments.

The page looks very pedestrian - Shooter probably fed the layout to Zeck. I wonder if the buyer knows that Amazing Spider-Man #252 was the actual first appearance of the black costume.

Multimillionaires don't need to know things or even do things that makes sense. They splurge, and the market follows in their wake.

That couldn't happen to a nicer guy...
The old adage "A fool and his money are soon parted" is still true to some degree... only problem is that the fools never seem to run out of the stuff.
