Millennium Films will give it another try with the She-Devil With a Sword. Hannah John-Kamen will play Sonja this time around.
She was Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp: We'll see if this one makes it to theaters.

Maybe not? Call her Red as in the Blood of all those she kills?
Anymore, who knows what Hollywood is gonna do and what changes they will make with characters?

It's not like actors change hair color for roles all the time or anything...

It's just a casting announcement, but honestly, with the bad press the film had already after they originally hired Bryan Singer to direct it, I'd be very surprised if she didn't have the red hair when she arrives in costume, on set.

Not sure she looks like Sonja, but I loved her as the Ghost.

The actress certainly looks the part!
I wish that they had chosen to feature Red Sonya of Rogatino rather than the comic-book Sonja, in an adaptation of The Shadow of the Vulture. It might not have done too well on the Turkish market, but it was a hell of a story with a very cinematic pacing.

I really dunno how the Turkish market would react to an adaptation of the original Robert E Howard story. In theory, I guess, the Hyborian Age version of Red Sonja could be of interest to a Turkish and/or Mongolian audience, well she is Hyrkanian after all.

Except their deal is with Red Sonja LLC and not the Howard estate holders, so they don't have the rights to the Howard stories. And if you had the Howard rights and not a deal with Red Sonja LLC, you couldn't call it Red Sonja. All part of the nightmare maze that is modern IP law. -M

Yeah, the rights to Red Sonja and Red Sonya can be confusing. At least I'm confused by it all. In a recent deal (2008) Red Sonja LLC paid Paradox $1 for all rights to the Red Sonya character. Paradox/Cabinet/Heroic signatures paid Red Sonja LLC $1 for the exclusive publication rights to the REH story 'The Shadow of the Vulture' Here's a link explaining the settlement between Red Sonja LLC and Paradox: lyceecharlesdegaulle.eu/settlement-in-red-sonya-v-red-sonja-lawsuit/Does that mean Red Sonja LCC can publish pastiche prose stories, comics and movies based on the adventures of Red Sonya from the 16th century? The deal also allows the Red Sonja stories to remain in REH's Hyborian Age. I'd surmise, it is unlikely they can use any of the characters from the Conan stories, just the setting.
