I just came across a great new word on another forum:
Polymoron - someone who has no knowledge in any particular area but insists on foisting their ignorance on others.
I like it. It describes a reality for which there wasn't really a word before, and it sounds right. I'll probably use it as opportunities present themselves in the future. It might be a little too familiar-sounding to ever be more than a colloquialism, but even if it doesn't have the chops to become a classic it could last for a few years.
Another new word I love (much better, in fact) was created by CBR poster Fly on the wall more than a decade ago:
Pisscuit - the solid pellet generated by cats when they pee in agglomerating litter. It's extremely descriptive, sounds funny, doesn't replace a previous word and really deserves universal recognition.
Are there any neologisms you think deserve to become accepted by the general public? (Verbs like "to retcon" are of course accepted too!)

Fartosis: The state of extreme chronic flatulence beyond even normal chronic flatulence known for such extreme side-effects as hallucinations, paranoia and lack of friends. In ancient Roman times, suffers of fartosis were often feared as being involved in demonic culinary experiments and were frequently cast out of villages and forced to live in archaic concentration camps built only in "upwind valley's."

I'm partial to John Oliver's "Fuckeulogy".

Dunno if it's original with me*, but I've used "(p)reminiscent" several times over the years. Probably should drop the parentheses, really.
*Might well be. I just checked Google; no hits without parens. With parens, bunches, but they all look to be plain ol "reminiscent" instead.

So is preminiscent the ability to reminisce about something that hasn't happened yet?

I like preminiscent! It's déjà vu all over again!

Rikiki is used around here to describe the state of extreme penile detumescence associated with swimming in cold water. An unkind synonym is Valiquette, from the patronym of an individual I haven't met but who must feel extremely self-conscious nowadays.

So is preminiscent the ability to reminisce about something that hasn't happened yet? I've used it to talk refer to movies, books, etc. that came out before something they remind me of, but that I didn't encounter till after experiencing the later work. Can't think of any good examples, so I'll come up with something that happens not to be accurate for me (since I saw the first movie before the second) -- "The early city street scene in Let Sleeping Corpses Lie I found preminiscent of much of the scene-setting sequences near the beginning of Shaun of the Dead."

Premniscient would be like seeing Stardust Memories before 8 1/2, and then thinking of Stardust Memories when you see 8 1/2 later.
Is that right?

I'd say that I've experienced this most with music. Roxy Music and Brian Eno alone have caused numerous preminiscent moments for me.

And, yeah, I love 8 1/2 and Fellini in general, but I think Stardust Memories is just a little better than 8 1/2. For the scene with the aliens ("we enjoy your films, especially the early, funny ones"), for Charlotte Rampling, and mostly for the scene from the movie Woody's character is making.
