Still say they should have got Dolph to voice He-Man. I actually watched the live action movie not that long ago and while definitely not what I wanted out of a live action He-Man film it actually wasn't that bad a movie in and of itself. I saw it in the theater, when it was released and enjoyed it well enough. I listened to the director's commentary, on the dvd, and he was a huge Kirby fan and infused much of that into the film, mixing in stuff from the 4th World, with Thor and Dr Doom and as soon as he said it, I knew exactly what scenes, imagery, and even character moments. He actually did more for Kirby's 4th Wold, and Kirby's comic book work than Justice league or the entire MCU. His Skeletor is a mix of Darkseid and Dr Doom, Evilynn is a bit of Granny Goodness and the Enchantress, He-Man is Orion and Thor, the key thing is a mother box, he gaves us pseudo Boom Tubes, had Skeletor parade the hero in chains, like Darkseid, gave us Mister Miracle's flying discs....it was Kirby. Done on the cheap, but still Kirby.

Live action MOTU. My friends were like who cares, it isn't at all like the toys or cartoon. Then when I explained about all the Kirby goodness in the movie and how it was a better comic book movie, they relented to go seeing and had a blast.
I probably saw it 5 times? Not as much fun as Flash Gordon, but still an enjoyable way to spend a few hours with soda and popcorn!

I didn't watch the cartoon much - I wasn't quite the right age for it when it came out, though that probably wouldn't have stopped me if I hadn't disliked the name "He-Man" so much and found the animation a bit humdrum. But I did enjoy seeing the movie on video, maybe a year or two after it came out. Dolph Lundgren was the perfect choice for the lead and looked in fantastic shape for the film.
I always liked Dolph, but unfortunately most of his solo movies were really bad, even by B-movie standards - several notches below the Seagal or the Van Damme movies, for example, which were usually fun and entertaining, no matter what their other defects. I imagine this would be his best movie by quite a margin - I mean of those he played the lead character in - unless I've missed something.
Seeing the trailer, my biggest complaint would be the same one I have about a lot of superhero animation: the exaggerated physiques and sheer size of the male characters are so disproportionate to the relatively realistic scale of the females. This is already a problem in superhero comics a lot of the time, and it looks to me that the disparity is boosted by several levels in the animated tv shows. It throws me off every time I try to watch them and really holds me ack from giving these shows more of a chance.

Having watched and enjoyed both the He-Man episode of the "Toys that Made Us" docu-series on Netflix, as well as the full Power of Greyskull documentary from 2017, I have been so fascinated by the narrative surrounding the creation of the toys and the cartoon series as well as the proposed live-action sequel to Masters of the Universe (some costumes and plot, of which ended up as part of the Van Damme movie Cyborg). The story of how it was made could be more interesting than the stories itself.

MotU Revelations was kinda fun. Not great by any means but strikes the nostalgia cord for me. Incorporates mythology from the original toy line, mini comics, plus ends in a cliffhanger. (Even if the new toyline spoils the ending.) Tony Todd as Scareglow!
