looks good! REad the first couple books... the seem to have pretty much been covered in season 1.. definitely will have to read the next couple before december!

Yeah, I've really been enjoying the books. I finished the first two which were collections of short stories(of which most of season one adapted) and I'm about half way through the first novel, Blood of Elves, which I think is what this season is based on. |

Pretty excited about this. Watched the first season when it originally aired, then binge-watched it again over Easter weekend this year when I was laid low by COVID. Haven't read the books, so I'm interested in seeing where this goes without having any preconceived notions (as I did with Song of Ice and Fire, which wasn't a bad thing, necessarily, but it's a little frustrating when the adaptation changes things or omits entire storylines).

Song of Ice and Fire is far better as a book.. the changes that HBO made were not good ones.. they mostly oversimplfied things, and cut out huge swaths of plot. I really liked the 1st book of short stories.. the 2nd one I thought was similar enough to the first it didn't add much. I'll definitely read the novels at some point, probably before the show. |
