As I mentioned, I came close to doing an all-Archie top five. Honestly, if I had thought of it in time, I would have. If I had, my list would have been: 1. Life with Archie #125 - "Nightmare Nursery" (the number one on my actual list) 2. Life with Archie #133 - "Culture Shock" (shown above in its entirety) 3. Life with Archie #160 - "The Thing in the Ghastly Green Box:"  4. Life with Archie #205 - "Satin in Satin:"  5. Life with Archie #248 - "The Mystery of Dr. Klaws:"  6. Life with Archie #161 - "Midnight Stalker:"  |

I didn't have any. I simply put together a list of five and stopped looking. There's some good EC stuff I read recently, but didn't want to dig them up and check which issues. Also I prefer longer serials to short stories anyway.

I had a mishmash of ideas on how to go about this, but I gave caution to the wind and just let my mind wander and go through my collection. I wanted to show some Corben, but I knew Corben would be on a lot of people's list. I did have "Anti-Christmas" on my list. Other suggestions I thought of using: 1. Nocturnals: Black Planet by Daniel Brereton. Not quite spooky horror, but a great horror comic all together. A mix of monsters, noir and Lovecraft in one.  2. Creature from the Black Lagoon by Arthur Adams. Again, not quite a horrorific comic, but anything to showcase Art Adams artwork is always good.  3. The Chuckling Whatsit by Richard Sala  4. Spectre 1-12 by John Ostrander/Tom Mandrake. Hell, I could've put all 62 issues of that run in here. 5. Global Frequency #9 by Warren Ellis & Lee Bermejo 6. "That Dracula May Live Again" by Marv Wolfman & Neal Adams in Dracula Live #2. Probably my favorite Neal Adams artwork ever 7. Curse of Dracula by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan (Dark Horse) |

I love the Nocturnals !  British horror anthology from the 90's with stories by Peter Milligan & Chris Weston  Ian Gibson  John Higgins  Alan Moore  Simon Furman These British titles are spotty to come by, but I remember there being some good stuff in there. |

I wanted to show some Corben, but I knew Corben would be on a lot of people's list. I think he only ended up making mine. Really, we should have seen a lot more of Corben and also Wrightson on our lists. I was really surprised by that. |

I could've gone with all Corben or all Wrightson, but it would've been a cop out. One comic I really wanted to post didn't make the timeframe. Stupid 2009... |
