Anyone else have a comic that they associate with a song from their youth? For me it was the last page of Captain America 235 and the Kinks Catch Me Now. I remember reading this issue and then about a month later I heard the song and my 11 year old mind just thought they read the issue and when they came to the last page they had their lyrics.

I remember being incredibly moved by the scene in Doom Patrol where Crazy Jane tells Cliff that "life means nothing at all" only to discover that Morrison had pinched her lines from The Jam. Nevertheless, I still feel a connection between Crazy Jane and Liza Radley.

Issue 5 of Micronauts always reminds me of a Captain & Tennille song, "Going Bananas;" but, that is because I was listening to the album, when I read the comic. Yes, I owned a Captain & Tennille album, when I was young. Wanna make somethin' of it?

Bothe the Marvel Logan's Run adaptation and the film remind me of Supertramp's "Logical Song." My cousin had the adaptation and the novel, with the photo section and I had not seen the movie yet, but wanted to. He had also taped the interrogation scene, near the end, off of tv, with a tape recorder (audio only). He kept playing a 45 of the song, while I was looking through the comics and the book, which just seared it into my brain. It actually kind of fit the ending of the film. Imagine this scene..... with this as a soundtrack..... and look at this panel.....

Doug Moench often used song lyrics as inspirations for stories during his freeelance days: You could tell it was 1am and the radio was on when he wrote many of these. Meanwhile, it's been bothering me ever since I read the issue fifteen years ago that I can't hear the tune being sung in Jack Kirby's Silver Star #1:

Yep. Whenever I see the cover to this book... ...Gary Wright's late 1975 hit "Dream Weaver" immediately starts playing in my head. I'm assuming that the song was playing on the radio while I was reading the book sometime in the late winter of 1976...

This song always makes me think of Love and Rockets. Love and Rockets fans will know why.

Toni Tennille is an excellent singer. I love that her studio work includes background singing on a couple of tracks from Pink Floyd's The Wall. That's not exactly an intuitive pairing.
I don't remember if we ever had a Captain & Tennille album, but I do have faint memories of watching their variety show on TV.

I remember being incredibly moved by the scene in Doom Patrol where Crazy Jane tells Cliff that "life means nothing at all" only to discover that Morrison had pinched her lines from The Jam. I had the same experience with the Judge Dredd story where he carries Rico on his back. the story ends with the line, "He Ain't Heavy, He' My Brother." I remember thinking that this is beautiful writing. It was more than ten years before I realised "hey, wait a minute..." I still like it.

Strange connection for me. I loved the Gold Key series Dagar the Invincible by Jesse Santos and Ron Glut. I would have to go to several stores on my weekly comic run to seek them out. Around the same time, the Helen Reddy song "I am Woman" was popular. It had a line "I am strong, I am INVICIBLE!". When I found a copy of Dagar, that would ring in my head.

Yeah; but the "I am woman..." line makes for weird reading.

The song "Brandy" by one-hit-wonder band Looking Glass was on Top-40 radio a lot when I was getting heavily into Marvel's Conan the Barbarian comic. I imagined that the sailor she was pining for in the song was Conan during one of his pirate phases. I imagined Barry Smith drawing a few pages focused on this waitress in the middle of a Conan adventure. The song still reminds me of the Smith era of Conan.

Another memory - early-to-mid 70s, I happened to be reading Thor while listening to a Mahler symphony. They fit together nicely.

Van Morrison's album Wavelength and the MacKenzie/Miller Daredevil, maybe a few of the first solo Miller DD issues too.
