Batman: The Knight #1Written by Chip Zdarsky Art by Carmine Di Giadomencio Summary: Bruce Wayne begins his journey to find justice after losing his parents. Plot: I love Chip Zdarsky, I love Batman and I've enjoyed Chip's previous Batman stories so this seemed like a slam dunk to me when it was announced...but as is sometimes the case reality and expectations don't always meet. That's not to say that this book wasn't well written, Chip turns in some solid characterization for Bruce Wayne and I liked the casual way he had Bruce out smart Hugo Strange...but I think I've just read too many origins for Batman for yet another one to really keep my interest especially one that while competently written isn't all that drastically different than what came before as other than being a slower, more character study focused book it doesn't add much that we don't already know. Maybe if you're not burnt out in origins like I am you'd love this, but for my money unless I hear it really goes wild I think one issue is enough for me. Art: There's a soft quality to Giadomencio's work that gives this book a feeling I associate with serious, period piece dramas you'd normally see on Masterpiece Theater which was something I had never thought would be fitting for a Batman book but it was certainly a unique experience. Grade:7/10

Nightwing #88. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo.
DC's best current title continues. Taylor has Dick continue to use the money Alfred left him to make Bludhaven a better city. Those who don't want this because it would ruin their "businesses" have put out a contract to kill Dick Grayson. Barbara supports Dick by getting all his friends to help protect him. He gets an updated costume from Mr Terrific and Wally West/Flash. Meanwhile the rest of the Titans prevent anyone from trying to get to Dick to kill him.
Taylor again shows how Dick is one of the best characters in the DCU. He is trustworthy and his friends are extremely loyal to him. They all drop what they are doing to help out. Plus Redondo's beautiful art makes this comic simply stellar.

Moon Knight #7. Jed MacKay and Federico Sabbatini.
MacKay pushes forward on the arc where Marc goes after Zodiac. One of the best versions of Moon Knight continues with this issue. I like how MK is portrayed as the protector of his neighborhood. This title has gone back to being street level again. I like the narrower focus.
The fill in art is very similar in style to the regular artist Alessandro Cappuccio.
One of my favorite titles right now.

I really loved seeing just how many heroes care about Dick and how willing they are to help him, it was just a perfect way of showcasing how differently Dick does things than Bruce.

Just before Zero Hour (after the last JLA/Titans event) I felt like the time had come to pull the trigger on making Dick the leader of the JLA, but they didn't end up doing it. Maybe this time.

Picks of the week:
Arrowsmith: Behind Enemy Lines #1 Kurt Busiek and Carlos Pacheco return to their great and underrated mini-series of dragons, magic and WWI. It felt like no time has gone by since the mini back almost 19 years ago. The scripting by Busiek is so good and grounded; Fletcher Arrowsmith feels so real. Pacheco's artwork is still nothing short of amazing. I was thrilled about the announcement of the book and it delivered.
She-Hulk #1 A new monthly of Jen Walters, this time by Rainbow Rowell and Roge Antonio. What happens when you've lost almost everything in your life? She-Hulk comes back after her World War She-Hulk story as she tries to get her legal career back, a new place to live and try to be a new hero for the times. Rowell's writing is sharp and punchy, where she ties in all eras of She-Hulk. Some old favorites come back into the book but spinning it around to make it fresh. Antonio's artwork reminds me a little of early Stuart Immonen. Super clean and pretty. Shulkie's my 2nd favorite Marvel character and I love when she has a book. I'm looking forward to this one.

I guy can dream though.

I just finished She Hulk myself and it was absolutely excellent! I've always been a fan of Jen Walters whether she was a sort of sci-fi adventurer like in her early stories to a comedic heroine from Bryne's run and then Slott's fantastic run. It's early yet but judging just from a single issue it looks like we'll be getting a mix of what has worked in the past with plenty of everyday drama, action and humor. I'm really looking forward to more of this!

I could get behind that if they did it, he just interacts so well with just about everyone. Just read the issue, and seeing the Titans on the page again (even if they're drawing Starfire like the actress on the TV show and Raven as a little kid) made me really happy, maybe just let them be the Titans, that's be ok, too . Also. Usagi looks like it's going to be the best story line in some time.. 'Crossroads' is off to a very good start. Our two heroes split up after literally taking the road less traveled, and both find their own trouble.

I didn't really pick up on her looking like the actress from the show, but to be fair I think I only watched a couple of episodes.
