Robin #11. Joshua Williamson and Gleb Melnikov.
Part 2 of the epilogue to the League of Lazarus Tournament. Damian, Connor Hawke and a few others spend some downtime before they return to their lives in Gotham, etc. Ras al Ghul, Talia and Ras' mother all "fight it out" to determine their families way forward from here.
Great art but a pretty uneventful issue until the last 2 pages! I won't spoil it here but if Damian pulls off his plan I would be happy...

Aquamen #1. Chuck Brown and Brandon Thomas. Art by Sami Basri.
I have not been reading the two series that lead into this one: Aquaman: The Becoming and Black Manta. Arthur and Jackson Hyde are looking into a new Atlantean conspiracy that involves Atlantean sleeper agents as terrorists. By the end of the issue Arthur reveals that the Black Manta is also part of the team helping him much to Jackson's misgivings.
This first issue was a bit confusing since I have no idea how the 2 previous mini series set up this new scenario. But I feel that will be revealed later. I like the team aspect of Arthur and Jackson. Brings back memories of Arthur and Garth as Aqualad together when I started reading Aquaman back in the 1960's.. not sure I can accept Black Manta as a "good guy".
There was nothing earth shattering or new in this issue but I am on board because... 1. I like Aquaman. 2. I like seeing Aquaman teamed with a partner. 3. It is hinted that the rest of the Aquaman Family (Mera, Tula, Garth) will appear.

I haven't read any of the newish Aquaman stuff... Is Jackson essential the comic book version of the Young Justice Aqualad? I feel like he came out of nowhere (poor Garth...)

Funny they've seen fit to create a whole NEW generation of replacement heroes without getting rid of the ones before ... its going to get crowded in the watchtower!

Funny they've seen fit to create a whole NEW generation of replacement heroes without getting rid of the ones before ... its going to get crowded in the watchtower! I like the concept of partners or a "family" especially with non powered heroes like Batman or Green Arrow but it has gotten absurd lately. There are currently 2 Batman. 5 former Robins. And 3 Batgirls. Marvel isn't any better. Look at Hulk. We have Bruce. Cho. Skaar. She-Hulk. Red Hulk. Red She-Hulk. It seems every major hero has 3 or more versions/partners running around.

It's kind of weird to see Aquaman have more than one title, not that I'm complaining
Read the new Ghost Rider #1 that came out today, very strong start, lots of psychological stuff and body horror

That seems to be the direction DC is going in... just a few 'regular' titles and the rest are story based.

Pick of the week...
Human Target #4
Tom King continues his rip-off, er... tribute to the film "D.O.A" as the story of Christopher Chance continues. It's a really well done series so far and Smallwood's art is the showstopper.

It's a really well done series so far and Smallwood's art is the showstopper. I really liked the first issue, I just can't support a rip off. If he had just put inspired by D.O.A on the title page and came out and said it in interviews I could get behind it...but without that it's just theft.

He did say it in interviews (https://ew.com/books/human-target-preview-tom-king-george-smallwood/):
But he should say it in the story as well. Post Grayson, I've had no interest in King's work (tried Vision and Mr. Miracle) so I was skipping this anyway.

I really like the Nightwing story, and what that does would invalidate it... at least a bit. I'm enjoying the other stuff... some surprisingly good character development for Damian... he's acting more like Dick Grayson every day
