I hope you don't mind that I fixed your link. Wow, the Sakais publishing the book themselves is MASSIVELY significant! Maybe this will this pave the way to new Saga Editions as well...

I think the book is still being printed by IDW, but the Sakais are financing it themselves. This is why they have the entire inventory and it is not available thru the regular retail channels (i.e., Diamond or local comic shops).

I wouldn't expect any more Saga hardcovers, as those were always intended to be limited and got the planned production runs fulfilled, so there is no need for Stan to produce them himself. The situation with IDW is different, where IDW decided to not publish hardcovers at all, a break from over 30 years of tradition. Since there are people that have collected the hardcovers since the beginning, Stan wanted to make sure those people could continue their collections and worked out a deal with IDW where he could produce his own run of hardcovers himself to sell through his own site.

The 30 years of tradition aside, the rest can be said for the Saga editions as well. Those of us who bought every volume did so with the assumption that they would continue long before there was ever talk of Usagi switching publishers. And since we've been able to get the Mirage issues incorporated into those volumes (and at least a comparable companion volume from Fantagraph), we Saga fans had no reason to believe that party was ever going to stop either, and we've certainly invested a lot in collecting the volumes that currently exist. At the end of the day, it inevitably comes down to what Stan wants and what is best for him and for the franchise, of course, but I don't think It's unreasonable to ask and hope.

Well, I'll have to say this, as a long time Usagi Yojimbo collector... over the years I've bought all the trade paperbacks and hard covers (from Fantagraphics and Dark Horse), and Saga hardcovers (I passed on the Saga softcovers). I personally never expected the Saga publications to go beyond the Dark Horse run, because it was DH publishing them - the Saga books are and were a Dark Horse only thing in my opinion. Once Usagi went to IDW, I hoped for TPB collections and in turn hardcovers of those TPB. We got a TPB and HC with Bunraku, but then IDW dropped the ball for Homecoming and Tengu War hardcovers. Thus I was more than happy when Stan announced they would be tackling those hardcovers themselves. Unfortunately this meant out of pocket expenses directly for Stan, and also meant he (and Julie) would be the sole distributor for the book(s)... that's a lot of shipping and packing to take care of, as well maybe more risk in selling them all. Considering the costs, risks, and work involved I don't really see Stan & Julie continuing the Saga books on their own, but what do I know.... maybe they will (one day).

Considering the costs, risks, and work involved . Fair points all around. All I know is they continue to exceed my hopes and expectations on every level. So while you're likely right, maybe they come to realize that Usagi is big enough to sustain his own minor publishing company, complete with a handful of part-time employees? Who knows, right?

Does IDW have the rights to publish all volume 4 or just any colored issues?
I am asking to know if there is a chance we can get black and white versions of volume 4 in hardcover, hardcover omnibus/saga editions from Dark horse or Fantagraphics?

In my opinion, the idea of omnibus editions from IDW for the Usagi Yojimbo volume 4 stories is not a dead option, it is just very very premature at this point in their publishing run for Usagi Yojimbo. Everybody and their neighbors have been asking about IDW omnibus editions since before IDW had even published enough issues of Usagi Yojimbo to even collect into a first trade paperback, let alone enough for an omnibus edition. Even now, IDW has only enough material for a single "Saga" size omnibus, then it would be another three years before they would have enough for a second one. Dark Horse published Usagi Yojimbo for EIGHTEEN YEARS before they released the first Saga omnibus collection, and there was still a long wait between volumes before the last few omnibus editions were released (#7 - 2016, #8 - 2019, #9 - 2021). Maybe, by the time IDW has enough original material to fill a decent number of omnibus editions, they will also have a lot of the older material colored as well and be able to do a series of omnibus (or library editions) starting at the beginning of the series...... Whatever, it is just too early to be expecting them to commit to omnibus editions at this point in time.
