Wolverine: Patch #1Written by Larry Hama Art by Andrea Di Vito Summary: While living in Madripoor under the name Patch in the 1980's Wolverine gets entangled in a game of espionage and death. Plot: I'm not a ride or die Wolverine fan, with as many appearances he's in there are going to be a lot of stories that just aren't for me but every once in a while a writer comes along who can make him shine and Larry Hama is one of those writers. The way Hama is able to inject the feel of espionage and classic pulp adventure stories into a Wolverine story makes it a unique look in the current market. In a lot of ways this is a really nostalgic book, not only because its a throw back to Hama's previous run on Wolverine, but because its an example of taking a hero from his known environment and using them in a genre outside what you'd expect which used to be a staple of comics in years gone by. While not as outlandish as Batman as a knight or Superman saving Gerorge Washington, Wolverine by way of Humphrey Bogart definitely has that fun, classic comic feel and I'm excited to see where Hama goes with this in the future. Art: In the same way that Hama's story has that throw back feel Andrea Di Vito's clean line work definitely evokes that same kind of classic comic feel. Grade:9/10

Couple Indies things from the last couple weeks:
Usagi 27 : great done in one story that is one that has been a recurring theme, but given a new feel with Yuichi's presence.
Cloaked #4 Was a rushed, disappointing end to a promising concept... this needed 2 more issues to flesh out the story, and perhaps a less depressing ending.
Hour of the Dragon #1 is amazing... the best of the Ablaze offerings so far. I art is just fantastic. I'll continue to buy the comics, since Ablaze is a small publisher that needs the sales, but this will be a beautiful hard cover someday.
