Anyone else have a nickname that is given to a character that just drives them crazy? Mine would be Hank Pym in early Avengers being referred to as Man -Mountain. I’m currently reading Avengers Epic Collection 43-56 and Hawkeye calling Hank Pym Man-mountain constantly, drives me nut.

I'm not sure it drives me crazy, but Captain Marvel being referred to as 'The Big Red Cheese' has always just seemed weird to me.

Yeah maybe crazy is too strong a word. I think my mind wants to read it “Mountain man and every time I see it I have to pause and reset to read it correctly. Plus I just think its kinda dumb.

Wonder Chick!
Bob Haney really laid it on thick with the trendy vernacular in Teen Titans. It wouldn't have bothered me if it was used once or twice, but Donna is called Wonder Chick by the boys so much that you'd have thought it was her actual code name.

I really wish Jimmy Olsen would stop calling Perry White 'Chief'.

I used to hate the nicknames "Shellhead" for Iron Man and "Winghead" for Captain America (though paradozically I had no problem with calling Spider-Man "Webhead").
Cei-U! I summon two of Stan Lee's lesser sins!

In the '70s, wasn't the Hulk sometimes referred to as "salad-head"? Ugh.

The Big Red Cheese wasn't supposed to sound heroic; it was an insult from Dr Sivana. The fans just started calling the character that, out of nostalgia and amusement, at the goofiness of it.
Within universe, pretty much all of the Titans nicknames, under Haney. They were never hip, in any era. It sounded like the kind of thing you would hear from a clueless adult, who wanted to "rap" with "the kids."

Same here--the nickname always undercut his stature; I mean, how unheroic is "The Big Red Cheese" for a superhero? It reflects the light tone of much of the Fawcett Capt. Marvel, especially his antagonistic relationship w/ Sivana. I hate Reddy for Red Tornado.

There's obnoxious and there's downright offensive - I'd put Pieface in the latter category.

I hate Reddy for Red Tornado. That's another one. I just read JLA 192-193 and found it weird that I think even Batman and Superman called him that.
