We all remember Goofus and Gallant from Highlights magazine (in case you dont, it involved two kids, one, Goofus, would be doing the "wrong" thing, while Gallant would do the "right" thing). What if we applied this to comic collecting?
Goofus puts his comics out of order and stores them in old grocery bags.
Gallant organizes his comics by title, number, year, and volume, and stores them in protective mylar bags.
Goofus gets upset with the LCS owner when the comic he wants is sold out.
Gallant makes a pull list with the owner so he can get the comics he wants reserved for him.

When Goofus borrows a comic from his friend, he rolls it up to swat a fly, folds it in half to put it in his back pocket, removes the page with the Marvel Value Stamp, fills in all the subscription forms with the name of Richard Hertz from Holden, adds inappropriate anatomical parts to the bodies of super-heroes and draws swastikas on every other page.
Gallant doesn't borrow his friend's comics.

Goofus parades his Key comic around and makes sure everyone knows what it costs.
Gallant shows a couple fellow collectors without discussing he price unless asked but then bags and boards it and never speaks of it again, also unless asked.
Goofus is shown a comic a friend is very happy he got and Gooffus will point out all the defects and question the price thus makign the owner feel crappy
Gallant shows real enthusiasm for what he is being shown and doesn't point out anything negative.

Goofus doesn't even read comics, he just complains about them on the internet.
Gallant only reads what he likes and discusses them with a select few.

Goofus bought 10 copies of Youngblood #1.
Gallant bought a copy of Bone #1 and shared it with the neighborhood.

Goofus refuses to read anything other than "super-hero" comics, and derides and dismisses all other genres as "stupid", "juvenile" or "for babies". Furthermore, Goofus only buys comics of one publisher's product line, and won't even look at books from another publisher. Gallant understands the concept of "different stroke for different folks", and acknowledges that not everybody has the same tastes... especially when it comes to independent or underground "comix".  |

Goofus collects comics Gallant reads comics One of my favorite books growing up was "Attack Of The Mutant" from R.L. Stine's Goosebumps. In the story, Skipper Matthews is an avid comic book collector, but never reads them and keeps them mint in the bag with The Masked Mutant being the lone exception. IDK I've probably said this before that kind of defeats the purpose to me |

Goofus punches holes on the side of his comics so they can fit in a three-ring binder.
Gallant treats the binder with respect.
