Steve Rogers vs the Outer Circle who has a lab in the heart of a volcano, There he finds a message from the original creator of his shield. Meanwhile, Bucky Barnes vs Peggy Carter.
Another excellent Cap issue. So far so good with both Cap series, this one with Steve & Bucky and the other with Sam & the Falcon. After years without a decent Cap series we now have 2 great series!

Han Solo and Chewbacca #5Written by Marc Guggenheim Art by David Messina
Summary: Hand and Chewie jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, escaping mob capture but ending up in the clutches of a rival gang!
Plot: What started out with a strong beginning is quickly starting to fizzle out as it approaches the finish line. What really sank this issue was the fact that both reveals were completely lacking any suspense. The first reveal was the gang that came to Han and Chewie's rescue here, instead of being a group we knew and would be interested in seeing again they were just the random mooks we saw Han strand in the first six panels of the first issue; we never learned their names, never saw them before and never got any characterization for them previously so why do we care that they're back? To add insult to injury the reveal of Han's "father" was even worse, while the idea that Han's father wasn't who he said he claimed to be wasn't out of left field the way the Marshall pulled off his mask in a full page spread made it feel like this reveal should have been a powerful moment...only it wasn't shocking because the identity of the con man wasn't a known character, so again, who cares? Between the failed "silent" Chewie issue last month and these botched "big" moments this series is really running towards being dropped.
Art: Unfortunately for the book the art just couldn't save the day from the plot. While the characters were well done and the action clear Messina really dropped the ball with the gang's ship as it just looked like a clone of the Falcon. Normally that wouldn't be terrible, the Falcon is meant to be just one of many mass produced ships so it shouldn't be surprising that another group of scoundrels would have one...the problem arises how ever when you have Han in awe of the new pirate's ship, commenting on how he loves how it handles and the fire power it packs when it looks just like his own ship(right down to the gun turret scene here looking just like the scene from a New Hope) which means that either the artist very creative or the writer didn't communicate that Han would be envious of this ship which would necessitate a different design. Either way it really brought the book down.
Grade: 6/10 |

Yeah, this series continues to be really strong and I'm loving both of the mysteries that Steve and Bucky are chasing down. |

Predator #1Written by Ed Brisson Art by Kev Walker Summary: After surviving a Predator hunt as a child Theta grows up to be the hunter of the galaxy's most notorious hunters.
Plot: While the wordless opening battle between Theta and the Predator goes on for far too long, Brisson really picked up the pace from there to deliver a novel and compelling premise for a Predator story. While the Dark Horse volume previously explored a human adopted and raised by the Predators the idea of a former prey taking up their tools of war and hunting the Predators where every they may be found is a new twist and was immediately attention grabbing. While its yet to be seen if this plot thread can last longer than a few issues Brisson's introduction here was a pretty solid start and I'm more than willing to see where it goes.
Art: For anyone who ever played Magic the Gathering, Kev Walker's heavily detailed art should be instantly recognizable. His smooth, detail orientated line work brings the book a really down to earth tone with a slight mysterious tone lurking around the edges which is perfect for a book about a monster that is most effective when it isn't seen.
