Star Wars: Hyperspace Tales #1Written by Amanda Deibert Art by Lucas Marangon Summary: After Padme is captured by the Separatists, it's up to Obi-Wan and Anakin to spring into action. Plot: With Star Wars returning to Dark Horse(even if it's just for an all ages line) I knew I had to pick it up, and while it wasn't a book that blew me away I'm glad I got it. Star Wars is at its heart a children's story and the Marvel comics just aren't aimed at that demographic so any line that embraces that core audience is a win in my eyes. That isn't to say that I didn't enjoy the book at all though, this prequel era story of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme fighting the good fight had a quick pace, some fun action scenes and in an era where everything has to be some big 8 issue mega event I really loved that this was a nice one and done story. The real kicker? Obi-wan attempting to speak Shyriiwook to a lost little Wookie girl. You know that scene where Dori speaks Whale in Finding Nemo? Imagine Ewan Mcgregor doing that with a baby Wookie and you'll get why this was my favorite scene in the book. I don't know if I'll always pull this book, but because its an anthology series jumping from period to period that's totally okay. Art: I wasn't as enamored by the art as I was the story. While Marangon does a great job at bringing the signature technology of Star Wars to the page, and the Wookie was cute...his human characters came off looking like what one would imagine Cabbage Patch Kids would look like when they grew up. The faces were pudgy and the features all seemed to inhabit the center of their heads rather than their correct proportions which gave it all a very weird feeling. Grade:6.5/10

Quick Comments: Not a good week.
Detective Comics #1063. dropped. Just not a fan of this bizarre story.
Robin #17. Williamson's run on Robin ends. Not too great. It just sort of sputters to a conclusion.
Amazing Spider-Man #8. Surprisingly the best this week. I like this weird twist that Osborn seems like a good guy after his dealings with Sin Eater and helping Peter with new tech that gives him some upgrades to his suit.
Capt America: Symbol of Truth #4. First issue that fell flat for me. It felt like a fill in issue. All set up for the last page that leads to Sam vs Black Panther next issue.
Fantastic Four #46. The last issue of Dan Slott's run. I really liked his FF but this issue was an all reset issue to get things back to "normal" for the next creative team. Except that Ben & Alicia stay married!
Gunslinger Spawn #11. I have been surprised at how much I liked this series so far. This was the first issue that felt like the series lost a sense of direction.

Despite the slightly over dramatic(nearly purple) prose I'm enjoying the atmosphere in Detective comics so I'm on board for now. I really wish they had kept the reformed Harvey Dent, that was a great scene and had a lot of promise for future stories only for it to seemingly be reversed at the end of the issue. Robin was a complete bust for me and I'm glad Williamson is off it, hopefully Waid's Batman Vs. Robin is better.

Definitely agree about Captain America, the fight with Crossbones was fun but other than that not a whole lot happened and then When T'Challa showed up all pissed off at the end it just had me rolling my eyes. Wouldn't he be concerned why Sam was there rather than just wanting to threaten him and throw down?
The whole "heroes have a misunderstanding and fight" thing has been tired for a very long time so seeing it here just killed me. Still enjoying the book but this wasn't a great issue.

I kinda liked the Robin issue... the stuff with Flatline was fun, and I love him reading Manga.. very cool character addition. I'm sad to see the series end, but I'm hoping it's just a random re-numbering and Damian will continue to have his own book after Batman Vs. Robin.

I'm just pretty much done with Williamson at this point, Robin started out solid but the whole crossover killed it for me. I'd definitely love another solo Damian book though, preferably with Maps.

Damian and Maps? That would be somethin'.... not sure it would work, but it could.
100% Agree the DCU needs more Maps, however they make it happen.
