Batflunkie, it actually will be coming on October 7. Two things: 1:05 mark, that's definitely Man-Thing. We now have Elsa Bloodstone officially in the MCU, which is only going to solidify the value of her first comic appearance. Wondering if we'll see her down the road with Blade or Dane Whitman at some point?

I’m happy to see the MCU+ moving into some newish genres.

Elsa Bloodstone and Man-Thing are all well and fine, but there better be a character named Jack Russell. And it'll get extra points from me if an actual terrier also shows up...

I wonder if the parodic tone was just something they did for the trailer or if that's the approach the show itself is going to take?

I wonder if the parodic tone was just something they did for the trailer or if that's the approach the show itself is going to take? Could very well be more in line with a homage like Franken-Wheenie than a bonafied horror classic like Frankenstein if I've read correctly. I have never looked at the key word tags that apparently exist for films and shows on Disney + but apparently Werewolf by Night is tagged comedy. What that means exactly who can say, but despite having no real scary moments I've always loved the old school universal horror feel of Tim Burton's Franken-Wheenie so if this is in that ballpark I'd be more than entertained.

They've said its meant to evoke the feel of TV Halloween specials, so I expect a fair among of tongue in cheek and camp, as pretty much every TV Halloween Holiday special I have seen evokes that tone and trope.

TV Halloween Holiday Specials - was there an actual series that went by that title or are we talking about the various Hallowe'en episodes that many ongoing series would do around that time of year?
Regardless, if the WbN tv show is an out and out comedy I'm probably less interested than I would have been otherwise, though I still might give it a look.

While the news that it might be slightly campy didn't turn me off, it had made me turn my expectations slightly lower which perhaps accounts from me walking away thinking that this just might have been my favorite Marvel project ever! While there were certainly some campy humor, especially in the beginning, and they did lay it on thick with the homages to the classic Universal monster movies with a little bit of over dramatic acting here and there it really did deliver an amazing Werewolf by Night story that did feel like it could have happened in the comics back in the day.
I loved the practical effects for the Werewolf, and the way they showed us the transformation through strobe-light like shadows was really creative. And with the film being in black and white they were able to get away with a surprising amount of violence that was appropriate for a werewolf decimating a small army of goons.
I really hope everyone loved this as much as I did and that they decide to make more of this.
