Picked these up from eBay today and Now I just need #13 to have 1-15. I'm re-purchasing this run as I sold it off about 10 years ago.

Just received this after winning auction on eBay: The limited edition reprint of the original Monster Society of Evil. Holy Moley! That's a packaging design worthy of such a seminal specimen of serialized story-telling!

Just received this after winning auction on eBay: The limited edition reprint of the original Monster Society of Evil. I've had a copy of this for quite a while. It's surreal Golden Age insanity! Hermann Goering shows up at one point! Be real real careful with it. My copy started falling part the third time I read it.

Just received this after winning auction on eBay: The limited edition reprint of the original Monster Society of Evil. A treasure indeed! I've always regretted not picking that up at cover price. I recently picked up the following trade paperbacks at 70% off clearance: Superman v. Zod; Sherlock Holmes & the Necronomicon; Showcase Presents: The Witching Hour 1; Zorro/Django; The Greatest Green Lantern Stories Ever Told; Wolverine: Not Dead Yet; Trees 1; Silver Surfer (Slott/Allred) 3; Midnight Nation; IDW Transformers: Robots in Disguise 1, 2, 4; & Supreme: Blue Rose. Yippee!

Sweet Christmas! I recently started reading that series from the beginning but haven't quite gotten to those issues yet. Nice pick-ups!

Ictrombone, some of those very issues are next in my "to read" pile!!
It turns out I'd forgotten a few in my 70% off "clearance" list. I also picked up Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift; Dynamite's The Last Phantom v. 1-2, & Sherlock Holmes v. Harry Houdini.

So the Jim & Dan's Comic & Toy Show haul from today.... for toys & artwork see this thread hereand for contemporary stuff see this thread hereto start with, the book I wanted to make sure I got today was a copy of Jack Kirby's Demon #2, the only issue I needed to complete the series. I found it and another book my dad would have loved early one... Yes a Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys comic by Al Hartley put out by Spire Comics-this proved to be a conversation piece most of the day as several people remarked on it or started conversations about it, including the owner of my regular lcs who collects Spire Comics as an eccentricity and Craig Boldman, Archie artist extradonaire and local to this area, who was a friend of Hartley's. I then went to a dealer who had a bunch of treasuries and a bunch of magazines (the mags were all 50% ticketed price). From him I picke dup a trio of Savage Sword issues I needed leaving me with only a handful of issues left to get a quartet of Heavy Metal issues... completing HM from it's launch in '77 through 1980 for me, and leaving me only 2 needed for '81 (both are Steranko Outland issues unfortunately) I also picked up a quarter of Treasuries from him... and found one of my grails...a reader copy of Savage Tales #1, which only ran me $10... it's rough, but readable, and considering how much high grade copies are going for now, I'll take it. More to come... -M

Moving on to other dealers... I bought a bunch of stuff from Jesse, the Gem City Con organizer... a bunch of $2 Kubert covers form some DC war books... and some $1 books... including a John Carter #11 in mid grade (which is slightly better than the one I had and paid more for, so I will sell off/trade the lower grade copy for something else as it is a book that gets some heat) and one of the Frazetta cover series books form Dark Hors eI have trouble finding. From another dealer I picked up Red Circle Sorcery #7 and 10, both with Gray Morrow covers... as you can see only 7 is pictured here. #10 is an ongoing saga. Dan (of Jim & Dan who run this show) is a delaer and a local indy creator I have known on the show circuit for about 5 years now, he's the guy I bought my Conan the Barbarian #1 off of several years back. He's the only other guy I know who collects the Red Circle Sorcery stuff and since I have known him he has been trying to find a #10 to complete his run and hasn't had any luck. So when I saw the #10 for sale, I snagged it, knowing I needed it, but with an eye towards giving it to him if he hadn't found it yet. When I brought it to his table, he hadn't, so I gave him that copy as thank you for all the help/deals/fun times at shows he has provided me with over the last 5 years. His reaction was awesome, and I know he will pay the good karma on to someone else too, so I was happy to see it. Also from this dealer I got them from I also picked up a pair of $1 Tarzan issues, one Dell one Gold Key... from Dan (who was who I bough the Dallas Cowyboys book from) I also got a few Bronze Age goodies... and I got these Bronze Age beauties from a dealer from my home town who runs a Vintage shop (not a comic store)... he had them marked $5 each but was doing 50% off everything, so I got both for $5. They are solid too, one is F+, the other VF at least. More to come... -M

One of the other dealers I bought stuff from was a toy dealer, but he had boxes of $1 books, including some great toy tie in comics from Marvel... I got all these from him at less than $1 each as he gave me a bulk discount... some Shogun Warriors from Marvel... a handful of Hawkmoon and Elric comics I need to fill holes... some Rom issues to chip away at my want list for the series... some Marvel Godzilla books... and a few miscellaneous books... including an extra copy of the glow in he dark Spectre #1 to display in the new comic room when I get to that point. And the last batch came form another dealer, the 5 issues I needed of the Moench/Gulacy SCISpy series... and that wraps up the day's haul. Great show, lots of good dealers, good time had by many. Oh and the best damn Count Chocula cosplay costume ever! in costume with it's bucket boots and paper mache head, it was over 7 feet tall! -M
