Not purchased, but acquired through a trade via the Classic Comics Exchange with our own pinkfloydsound17... This was the series that led to me finding my first ever comic shop, but I had long ago lost the box they were in during a move... Some classic Steranko Nick Fury (I have all the Strange Tales stories in trade, but am slowly putting together the actual Nick Fury issues by Steranko... another issue of Rom checked off the list and some classic Kirby... and a pair of Thor isses, one from the Simonson run and the other annual #6 which was a favorite as a kid, but my copy had lost its cover long, long ago and been given away at some point... Many thanks to pfs17 for the books. I hope you enjoy the stuff I sent your way too. -M

Congrats on your lengthy Detective Comics run Hoosier X! #1,000 will be out before long and then you will have nearly 700 consecutive issues. I have about 11 issues between Detective #280 and #300. When Detective #980 comes out (in about three months), I'll be 12 issues (or so) short of having 700 issues in a row.

I managed to find the 2nd volume of Frank Robbins's Johnny Hazard newspaper strip and the first collection of Pat Mills's Slaine, Warrior's Dawn, both of which I should start reading next month, along with a few other things.

My Comic Book Store tracked down a copy of Justice League of America #115 ... which contains the "Last Angry God" and I wanted it so bad that I lost my original copy of it over 45 years ago! The "God" was Korge and this story is very seminemtial to me. Got it for twenty bucks.

That JSA story reprinted in Justice League #115 looks very intriguing. I've read a lot of JSA stories over the years (mostly from JSA Archives volumes from the library) but I've never read that one. I think I'll see if I can find it online and read it before I walk the dogs.

I picked these up the other day. I’ve been meaning to reread both series and this gave me the excuse to start.

A nifty little JSA adventure set in Hollywood. Cameos by Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and others. I especially liked the use of real locations in Southern California, like Laurel Canyon, Lake Arrowhead and the city of Venice.

MG's post about JLA #115 made me seek out the JSA adventure. Yeah, I WISH I could afford All-Star #44!

I would love to have that All-Star too ...

The Tower Chronicles Geisthawk Vol. 3 (Matt Wagner/Simon Bisley) $5 trade Streetwise anthology trade ($5) Flash Gordon: The Ice Monster by Al Williamson Blackhawk (prose novel, by William Rostler-24 hours ago I didn't know this existed, saw it in the prose thread last night, and saw it at one of the first dealers I went to today and picked it up)
What if Karen Pages Had Lived by Bendis & Michael Lark, signed by Michael Lark-this was my prize in a charity contest for Toys for Tots, for a $5 donation you got to spin the prize wheel-there were a couple of signed Micronaut action figure variants form the IDW series as prizes, so I took a shot and got the Lark book instead, which is cool as I really dig Lark's art
and some $1 trades and hardcovers that Pete Bell of Bell Books and Comics was blowing out...(everything at his table was $1 today except the 50 cent bins)
Ex Machina by Vol. 7 Jim Butcher's Dresden Files Storm Front Vol. 2 hardcover used copy of Safe Area Gorazde by Joe Sacco (to replace my copy I lent to someone and never got back) Mouse Guard: Labyrinth and Other Stories (the FCBD hc they did a few years back that I missed) Phil Foglio's Buck Godot Zap Gun for Hire Vol. 1 (for my wife who is a big fan of Foglio's stuff) Jodorowski's The White Lama Book 2 Second Sight hc Noah by Darren Aronofsky, Ari Handel and Niko Herichon (the OGN the Russell Crowe movie is based on, a $30 hc for $1)
plus comics by local creators
Prowl #4 by Adam Fields (regular issue and blank sketch cover I had Adam doa commission cover on) Rock of Pages #1 by Lee Xopher
and 3 pages of original art by local creator Jeff Austin who has worked in zones for years and was selling off stuff to pay for medical expenses, so I picked up 3 really coolpages (and he recycles pages so there's art on both sides of each page) and a Hawkman sketch card by Adam Fields.
And one lone solitary vintage toy, the Flash Gordon figure from the 1979 toy line based on the Filmation animated series. I had Ming, added Flash to the collection.
As I said, pics to follow soon
-M
